Last Week in Lipstick: Volume 4

Wow I cannot believe I have been tracking my lipstick for four weeks now! I have been wearing a wide variety of lipsticks, glosses, stains, and more. I love finding old favourites in my collection and it has been a lot of fun to try everything so far. As always, here are my seven different lipsticks I wore this past week, and my thoughts/review on each one.

The seven lipstick shades I wore last week

The seven lipstick shades I wore last week

Monday: ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip in shade Mama

I was so impressed with this shade. It was the perfect muted orange red that wasn’t too orange or too red. It looked great on and lasted super long, even through meals. It did not feel drying or thick and had the perfect application with one thin coat that was so crisp on my lip lines. This one quickly jumped up to the top of my ColourPop favourites.

Tuesday: L’Oreal Paris Le Matte Lip Colour in shade Mad For Matte

I wanted a super bold bright red for Valentine’s Day and this was the perfect choice. This is such a creamy formula and even though it is a matte lipstick it feels smooth and soft and more like a balm to wear. I love this L’Oreal line and every time I wear one I love them even more. The bold colour, great formula, long-lasting power, and creamy feel make this one of my favourite lipstick.

Wednesday: ColourPop Sheer Lippie Stix in shade Whip

This lipstick looks so crazy and bold in the tube but it actually comes out like a lovely medium purple wash of colour when I apply it. I think it has to do with the sheer formula. I love how shiny and smooth this makes me lips and it really feels moisturizing for quite a few hours. It does have a slightly odd scent when I first apply it but luckily that fades quickly and I am only left with the pretty colour.

Thursday: Maybelline New York SuperStay 14HR Lipstick in shade Enduring Ruby

This lipstick was a total surprise to stumble upon because I ddin not even know I had it. I picked it up because I liked the shade and decided to give it a shot, and ended up really falling for it. I loved the deep red hue but I also loved how shiny it was, how long it lasted, and how great it felt to wear. This might be an older Maybelline release but it is still going strong and I was super impressed with it. I can’t say it lasted 14 hours but it definitely lasted strongly through breakfast, coffees, and lunch.

Friday: Maybelline New York Baby Lips in shade Spice it Up

This is one of my consistent go-to balms because it feels awesome to wear and delivers great colour. I love a lot of the Baby Lips shades but this one is one of my top three because it has a nice spicy red/pink shade that is easily build-able for a more opaque look.

Saturday: NYC Smooch Proof Liquid Lip Stain on shade On Everyone’s Lips

I like this lip stain because it is very light and thin. It ends up looking similar to my regular lip colour but a bit more mauve tinted. It’s easy to work with and lasts me a few hours with a nice colour. It is a browny/mauve hue that can be built up a little with an extra layer.

Sunday: Buxom Full-On Lip Cream in shade Kir Royale

I rarely wear glosses but I picked up this pretty deep red gloss for something different to end the week. I like the shade and consistency, and it feels good to wear. I don’t love the fake cotton candy scent but for such a pretty dark red gloss I was able to forgive that.

So there we go, my fourth week of tracking my lipstick and I have found some serious favourites. I love the Maybelline SuperStay shade, and seem to be repeating ColourPop Ultra Mattes a lot, and have had some great options with tinted balms. Tracking these lipstick weeks has made me really appreciate my collection a lot more and I am enjoying shopping my stash. I can’t wait to see what shades I pick this week!

LUSH Herbalism

Skincare has always been the one aspect of my beauty routine that I am most hesitant to change. I will try any colour lipstick and wear bright blue mascara on a Tuesday, but it takes a lot of research and concern for me to change my skincare routine. I recently purchased LUSH Herbalism to finally make some changes to my skin, and I am really hoping for good results.

LUSH Herbalism Cleanser

LUSH Herbalism Cleanser

I have used LUSH skincare in the past but it was many years ago and I don’t think I gave it a proper chance. I originally ignored LUSH Herbalism due to the strong vinegar scent, but after a few weeks of researching it I decided I would suck it up and ignore the scent in order to give it a shot. In the past two weeks I have gotten used the smell and don’t hate it anymore. I don’t like it particularly but it doesn’t bother me any longer.

About LUSH Herbalism

LUSH Herbalism is a vegan cleanser made up of ingredients such as ground almond, rice vinegar, and rosemary. It comes in a LUSH black pot and is a crumbly texture. You can check it out on their website here.  The method to use this is to pinch off a bit and mush it up in your hand with warm water to create a grainy paste consistency. It can be a bit messy but I will deal with the mess if it delivers results.

Right now I am just over two weeks into using this, and have noticed a few things in regards to my skin. I use this at least once a day to wash my face, and sometimes twice depending on if I wore makeup. This does not remove makeup which was a big issue for me at first. I like having one products to wash and cleanse and get everything off my face, so it was hard to get used to LUSH Herbalism. I now use this after I remove my makeup at night, and/or in the morning when I wake up (and therefore have no makeup on).

I like the feeling of this cleanser and enjoy the slightly exfoliating feeling of the ground almonds. It leaves my skin soft, smooth, and almost buttery feeling after – but not in a greasy or oily way. I am used to my face feeling super tight after I wash it (with my previous skincare routine) so having this soft feeling after LUSH Herbalism is a pleasant change.

Does it deliver results?

As I mentioned, I am only about two weeks into using this and I have decided to give it a full four week trial. My face feels soft and smooth, however any blemishes or acne I had have not drastically changed. I think I may have slightly better skin and fewer blemishes, and possibly less oily skin, but nothing super noticeable. After a full four weeks I feel like I will have a better time frame to base my review on, so I will keep using LUSH Herbalism and hope I see some great improvements.

For reference I do have a fairly oily t-zone and get minor blemishes and relatively minor acne on a consistent basis. My goal with a new cleanser was to clear up my skin and reduce the oiliness.

Once I finish my full test time of LUSH Herbalism I will be posting my full thoughts, so keep an eye out for that.

Last Week in Lipstick: Volume 3

Wow, time is flying! I am already on my third week of this lipstick tracking plan and I have really been branching out with my choices. I have no repeats from last week and once again I have rediscovered some favourites that haven’t gotten any attention lately.

This was a fun week with some liquid lipsticks, hot pink, metallic lips, and everything in between. I wore a lot of older lipsticks and enjoyed remembering some of those shades I love. Check out all 7 of the lipsticks I wore last week!

My Last Week of Lipstick: Volume 2

Welcome to another installment of my week of lipstick picks! Last time (my very first one) I showed off the 7 lip products I wore over the week to encourage myself to keep wearing new shades and trying to branch out a bit. It worked so well and I loved seeing the different shades I ended up picking through the week. There were a few similar shades in the first week so I made extra sure to pick really different ones this time around.

The 7 lipsticks I wore this week vary a lot in shades and formulas. I ended up finding a few old favourites (hello MAC Rebel) and picking up some shades I hadn’t worn in a while. I only had one repeat product in this week of lipstick, but my goal for the coming week is to have none!

My Last Week of Lipstick: Volume 1

Since 2017 started I have been pushing myself to try more of my makeup and use different items that I own. I know I have some of my favourites (like the Sweet Peach palette and ColourPop lipsticks) but I wanted to branch out and give all my makeup some equal love. One of the ways I have been able to do that is by changing my lipstick every day. No matter how rushed I am I always make sure to grab a different lippie every morning.

This started as an accident almost but by the end of a week I noticed I had a bunch of different lipsticks in my purse, which I wore that week. Since I really enjoyed doing the 16 lipsticks I found in my purse post I decided to start posting about these as well.

So now here we are with my first week in review. I am including little notes on each item and have swatches as well!

Here are all the lipsticks I wore last week!

Using Up My Beauty and Skincare Samples (#ProjectPan)

Good morning beauties! Today I have a bit of a different post for you. I have decided that I really need to start using up my beauty and skincare samples so I laid them all out and am taking a mini inventory! I realize that I have a ton of products that are just sitting in my sample section, waiting to be used.

Sure, samples are great for travelling – but what if I don’t have anywhere to go? Instead of keeping these forever and letting them wait around I have decided to start using them now.

I know some of these beauty and skincare samples are items I already have used and like, but many are brand new to me. I don’t think I would want to be trying a new face mask or skin cream on a trip anyways, since it could react badly to my skin and end up making it worse. I would rather do my experimenting at home. The few ones I know I like and will use can wait for a trip since they take less space for packing, but anything new or unknown to me has to be used up at home. So far the only ones that I feel confident to travel with are the Smashbox primers and Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I also think I could wing it with the mini Urban Decay Lipstick and Sephora eyeliner pencil since those are pretty generic and I can work with any shade.

Tons of beauty and skincare samples I am going to start using up!

Tons of beauty and skincare samples I am going to start using up!

These photos are what is left of my samples after a mini purge – I set aside a bunch of masks and skincare for my mom and best friend, and took out any foundations that were not my shade. Check out the long list below of all the beauty and skincare samples that I decided to keep.

I tried to organize in a top to bottom/left to right listing so it should be pretty simple to follow along!

  • Philosophy Renewed Hope In A Jar Moisturizer
  • Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer (x4)
  • Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil Shampoo

  • Shiseido Shimmering Cream Eyecolor: Mist, Magnolia, and Purple Dawn
  • Make Up For Ever HD Blush: 410
  • Clarins Rouge Prodige Lipstick: Raspberry Sorbet, Coral Tulip, Red Prodige, and Redwood
  • Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner: Black Ink and Steel Ink
  • Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Moisturizing Lipstick: Red Door, Pretty Pink, and Neoclassic

Almost all of these are the samples I get from Sephora orders and some have been sitting around for nearly 6 months. A few items are from subscription boxes and they just snuck in here accidentally, since I usually keep those in separate sections.

I am really excited to start using these up and look forward to trying some new beauty and skincare items. This is kind of a mini start to a panning challenge or#projectpan as I always see on Instagram. I have no idea how long this will take me or if I will discover any new favourites, but I will be keeping you posted along the way! Wish me luck to start making some serious progress on these beauty and skincare samples!

The Too Faced Peanut Butter and Jelly Palette

Today I have another Christmas present to talk about – the Too Faced Peanut Butter and Jelly Palette. This is another palette, just like the Sweet Peach one, that I have been waiting months for and was super hard to get for me. I could not find it anywhere in Canada but somehow my amazing BF got it online and surprised me for Christmas.

The Too Faced Peanut Butter and Jelly Palette is adorable!

The Too Faced Peanut Butter and Jelly Palette is adorable!

The Too Faced Peanut Butter and Jelly Palette has nine eye shadows in it, with three in larger pans and six smaller ones. The whole idea of this palette is inspired by the single shade called Peanut Butter in Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette. I happen to have that one as well (my first ever Too Faced palette) and I can see why this shade sparked a whole palette of it’s own.

Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip 2017

As you may know by now, I really like the Sephora Favorites Lip sets. I have the Give Me Some Bold Lip, Give Me Some Lip and Liner, and the Give Me Some Lip set from 2016. I really have enjoyed all of these sets and love getting to try multiple brands and lip products for one price. Today I will be showing you the Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip 2017 set, which just came out a few days ago.

Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip set

As usual this set comes with a mix of full size and deluxe mini size products. This time around the full size items were an Urban Decay Vice lipstick and an Estee Edit Lip Liner. Both items were very intriguing to me, and made this set worth the price tag. For $33 Canadian I got two full size and four deluxe mini lip items, and the full size ones alone are worth $21 and $24 respectively, so they make the set worth it.

Let’s take a look at what comes in the Give Me Some Nude Lip set!

Swatches of the Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette

Today I have swatch photos of the adorable Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette which I talked about yesterday. I am so into this palette and every time I see it or play with the shadows I fall more in love with it. I am thrilled that I finally have it.

I love the Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette

I love the Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette!

For swatching I divided the 18 eye shadows into groups of 6 shades and that seemed to work well by the way the palette way organized. I had the lightest ones one the left, the mid-tone ones in the middle group, and the darkest 6 hues on the right side. I liked looking at them in groups and it helped me see a few combinations I want to work with. I didn’t notice right off the bat but the Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette definitely has a wide variety of dark and light shades.

Take a look at the swatch photos below!  [Read more…]

I Finally Got The Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette

It’s finally here! I have been waiting months to get the Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette and I finally got it as an early Christmas gift from my awesome BF. I missed the original release many months ago and have eagerly been waiting for this palette to come back, which it finally did last week. I have been obsessively checking my tracking code all week and finally got the package in my mailbox. I am so excited and thrilled to finally have this yummy palette to play with!

The Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette

The Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette

The Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette is scented like peach candy and honestly it smells exactly like it. I also own the Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette which was amazing and smells like the yummiest chocolate. I was so unsure about the scent of both palettes and wondered if it was really accurate or noticeable but once I smelled it for myself I understood all the hype. They both smell super accurate and super delicious! I love fuzzy peach candy and peaches and peach tea, so the Sweet Peach scent is perfect for me.
