Review: CoverGirl Plumpify Blast Pro Mascara

After falling in love with the recent CoverGirl Katy Kat Matte Lipstick launch I knew my next post would have to be this one. A while ago I bought the CoverGirl Plumpify Blast Pro Mascara and although the brush looks pretty intimidating I was dying to try it. I didn’t pull out a protractor to measure the claim of 50% more volume, but this mascara really did deliver on long, lush lashes.

The CoverGirl Plumpify Blast Pro Mascara has one of the funkiest brushes you will ever see. It is super stiff and has all kinds of turns and angles which can be dangerous when working so close to your eyes. I have poked myself once or twice with this wand but if you are careful with it you can work magic. Like I said, it is is super stiff and the bristles are hard plastic, but they divide and conquer lashes with ease. I got tons of length and definition with this funky wand and I really love the result.

I like the look of the CoverGirl Plumpify Blast Pro Mascara tube and found it easier to work with the wand as time went on. The more used to it I was the easier it became, and the less dangerous it was. However tricky (and painful) the brush may be, it definitely works and its worth being extra careful to get results like this.

The formula is dark and smooth and applies really well. I used two coats to get my lashes looking like this and I am really pleased with it. I got no clumps at all and I feel like my lashes have never been this separated before. You can see in my before and after shots using Essence Cosmetics Lash Princess Volume Mascara they still look a little clumped together, whereas with the CoverGirl Plumpify Blast Pro Mascara all of my lashes are defined.

The CoverGirl Plumpify Blast Pro Mascara is a great drugstore option, and although it may not make it 200% volume it definitely gets a 100% score in my books.
