CoverGirl Katy Kat Eye Mascara in Perry Blue

I have always loved the look of coloured mascara but it seems hard to show up on my dark lashes. I have tried a few in the past that delivered little colour, or very faint colours, but nothing that really wowed me and stood out over my dark lashes. Recently I spotted the CoverGirl Katy Kat Eye Mascara and knew that I have to give it a shot. I really liked the demi-matte lipstick from the CoverGirl Katy Perry line, which I reviewed here, so I was hoping this mascara would be just as good. The shade I chose was the bright blue, called Perry Blue. It actually only comes in this shade and two black hues, but I am glad to see a coloured option.

The CoverGirl Katy Kat Eye Mascara has a chic clean white tube that I love. I loved the lipstick packaging for the same reason, and this mascara is just as cool. Aside from the bold packaging, it has a really cool brush too. The brush on this mascara is rounded with a little spiral to it and I actually quite liked it. This mascara is advertised to give you dark and full lashes with 10x the volume, but I never really believe the 10x or big claims like that. All I want is a nice fringe and some bright blue colour.

The Body Shop Summer Tote

I recently ordered my usual face wash and a few skincare items from The Body Shop and I happened to see a promo on for a summer tote with some great products included for $30. In The Body Shop Summer Tote, which is a cute Canadian flag themed bag, I got 8 customer favourite items including a Body Butter and Body Sorbet. The value of the items is $128 and I paid $30 for the items and the cute bag, so I definitely got a deal. I also was going to purchase a Body Sorbet anyways since I just finished my mango one, so this seemed like a good way to get a new one and some other great products. The Body Sorbet alone would have been $16 so basically I bought that and paid and extra $14 for a ton of items.

Everything included in The Body Shop Summer Tote bag,

What did I get?

The items included in The Body Shop Summer Tote are as follows:

  • Strawberry Shower Gel, 250ml
  • Shea Body Butter, 200ml
  • Satsuma Body Sorbet, 200ml
  • Satsuma Body Polish, 200ml
  • Hemp Hand Protector, 30ml
  • Vitamin E Moisture Cream, 50ml
  • Camomile Gentle Eye Makeup Remover, 250ml
  • Cream Bath Lily

Out of these items I know I like the Shower Gel, Body Butter, and Body Polish. I love the Satsuma scent so I was really happy about those items, and a Body Polish sounds like a good item for hot summer days. I am always looking for a good hand cream so the Hemp Hand Protector will be nice to try. I am not sure about the Moisturizer or Eye Makeup remover but I will give them a shot. I also love the current Bath Lily that I have so I don’t mind having an extra for when it comes time to replace mine.

Overall I think this was a good deal for some items I already know and love, and a few new things to try. At the end of the day I am already happy with 5 out of the 8 products right off the bat so that is a good deal for $30. The others I look forward to trying soon and will be sure to review. Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy High Stakes Nail Polish

Recently I have been focusing a lot on nail polish and have some great bright hues that are perfect for summer. Although I love the bold yellow of Essie Aim to Misbehave and bright turquoise of Julep Phoebe lately, I always have a special spot in my stash for this on particular polish. This gorgeous dark green polish is one of my favourite drugstore nail polish shades. This is Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy High Stakes, and it is a deep forest green hue that is super shiny.

The formula is great and it has a really nice glossy look to it once you apply it. Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy High Stakes took me two coats to get this slick shiny look.  The formula is smooth and very fluid so it applies really nicely and works well for thin coats that dry quicker. The colour is so pretty and I love how intense and deep the green is. It is really dark and has the slightest hint of teal almost, but it definitely is a green. It isn’t emerald green or too bright or bold, but a nice rich green shade that I love with my tanned skin. It works year round and I reach for this polish frequently.

Aside from the great colour and excellent shine on this polish, I also really like the brush and bottle. It is small enough for me to hold and handle with ease, and the brush fits my nails perfectly so I pretty much only have to use one swipe to cover the entire nail surface. Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy High Stakes may be one of the most basic nail polishes in my massive collection (over 500 bottles last time I counted!) but it is one of my favourites.

My First ColourPop Eye Shadows!

ColourPop, ColourPop, ColourPop. OMG. I have been hearing about this brand and seeing amazing photos on Instagram for months now, but never made the plunge to purchase anything until just recently. I filled my cart online many times but never made it to checkout, and finally a few weeks ago I just couldn’t delay any longer. I needed to try ColourPop eye shadows and lipsticks!

I ordered three lipsticks and three eye shadows, and there was a promotion to get a special anniversary eye shadow free. I chose the shades very carefully and even though there are so many that looked incredible I finally was able to settle on the ones I wanted to try. I was so excited for my order to arrive and haven’t been that happy to get a shipping notification in a long time. Today I am just going to show you the ColourPop eye shadows that I got because I want to do proper lip swatches of the lippies for their own post.

Once my order arrived and I opened the ColourPop eye shadows I knew immediately why this brand was blowing up online. ColourPop is freaking fantastic! The formula on the shadows is the creamiest, softest, most amazing formula I have ever tried and the colours pay off incredibly. The four ColourPop eye shadows I got were BAE, KathleenLights, Mooning, and the free Birthday Boy one to celebrate 2 years of ColourPop being in business.

Essie Dotted Nail Art

I have posted a few times in the past about the #31DC2016weekly nail art challenge that I have been doing on Instagram, and today I have another nail look to show you that is from this challenge. The look today is an Essie dotted nail art look, which I did using three of my favourite Essie nail polishes. The prompt for the theme this week was geometric, and although that can be interpreted many different ways I decided to go simple with a dotted manicure.

My Essie Dotted Nail Art Look

My Essie Dotted Nail Art Look

What colours did I use?

My base coat is two coats of Loot the Booty, a recent release from the summer collection. This shade on it’s own is a gorgeous navy shimmer with really pretty flecks of colour. I loved it alone and will be sure to swatch it soon. I got too excited to do my Essie dotted nail art so I jumped right into the design before taking any photos of the polish plain.

My Essie Dotted Nail Art Look

My Essie Dotted Nail Art Look

This Essie nail art look only required three polish colours and a dotting tool. To do my dots I used two different sized dotting tools, which I got on eBay ages ago. They have been my go-to for super simple nail art looks and I have gotten great use out of them over the years. One of the colours I chose to dot with was Apres Chic, which is an amazing silver metallic Essie polish. I love this shade alone and it looks like melted metal on the nail. It is a little thin but once you get the nail covered it looks incredible. The other shade I used was Viva Antigua, which is a super bright turquoise shimmer that looks like a crystal clear Caribbean ocean.

I love the combination of the navy and turquoise shimmers with the chic silver. This Essie dotted nail art look was so easy to do and didn’t really take much time, but it looks intricate and very neat to look at.

Maybelline New York Color Tattoo Concentrated Crayons

Most of us are familiar with the Maybelline New York Color Tattoo 24 Hr Cream Gel Shadows, and they happen to be some of my favourite eye shadow products ever. Recently, Maybelline New York released a new line of Color Tattoo Concentrated Crayons and I was super excited. Similar to the original Color Tattoo line, these crayons are shadow sticks with intense pigment and creamy formulas.

Four of the Maybelline New York Color Tattoo Concentrated Crayons

Four of the Maybelline New York Color Tattoo Concentrated Crayons

The Color Tattoo Concentrated Crayons are extremely similar to the original Color Tattoos, but the biggest difference seems to the be packaging. These come in twist up crayons, while the originals were in little jars. I found those easy to use but very messy, and when the jars got low it was tricky to get in and get the shadow out. I also had some of the original Color Tattoos dry out in the little jars, which wasted good product. With the crayons I can apply directly to my eyes and it saves me the mess of using my fingers. I did have a tiny issue with the tip of one of my crayons breaking off, but I was able to put it back in the tube and I just won’t be able to turn it up once it gets low.

Today I have four shades of the Maybelline Color Tattoo Concentrated Crayons to show you. The formula on all four of these is super smooth and creamy, and they all deliver opaque colour. These shadows are metallic hues and they have a great sheen to them. The four shades are Pink Parfait, Grey Crystal, Charcoal Chrome, and Bronze Truffle.

Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette

A few weeks ago I posted about the Too Faced Sweeter Side of Sexy Set that I got for an awesome deal. It included 4 full size Too Faced products, including the Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette. The whole set of 4 pieces was less than the palette itself on the Too Faced website, so it was a great deal for me. Today I want to show you the swatches of the gorgeous Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette and take a closer look.

Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette

Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette

The one thing I had in the back of my mind when I got the Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette was the chocolate scent. I am not a huge chocolate fan in real life and wondered if I would like, or even notice, the famous chocolate scent that the shadows have. I have never had scented eyeshadow before but I had heard so much about this and was super curious. When I finally got the palette and opened it I was pleasantly surprised. You can really smell the chocolate! The reviews weren’t exaggerating – the Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette really does have a delicious chocolate scent to it. I couldn’t believe how accurate it smelled or how good it really was!

Aside from the yummy scent of the palette, the shadows included have some great shade variety. There are highlight shades like beige and pale gold shimmers, as well as darker chocolate browns, and even a blue. The wide variety in the Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette make it a great palette for day and night, and it isn’t specific to any season or skin tone. There are a total of 16 shades in the palette, with 2 being in larger pans. These seem to be the most classic highlight shades which would be able to be used with any combination of the other colours.

Essie Aim to Misbehave 1000th Shade

I have been posting a lot of nail polish posts lately, including strawberry nail art, a perfect mermaid nail colour, and my recent Julep Maven box, but this polish post is something extra special.

This year Essie released their 1000th shade of nail polish and it is a stunner. Essie Aim to Misbehave is a golden yellow shimmery shade that is super bright and bold. It definitely is a unique shade to celebrate this milestone and I had to make sure I didn’t miss out on such a special polish. Although most of my Essie polishes are classic hues like pink, red, or lighter shades, this yellow polish is a total standout. I don’t own very many yellow polishes and the few that I do are just plain creme yellows, so this shimmery golden one is unique to my collection.

Essie Aim to Misbehave - the 1000th Essie nail polish!

Essie Aim to Misbehave – the 1000th Essie nail polish!

Essie Aim to Misbehave looks gorgeous in the bottle and eve better on the nail. The classic bottle has been decorated with a celebratory cap, which I really like. The polish took me two coats to get a perfect colour payoff. I really like Essie brushes and find that they work well for my nail size. With the brush and the smooth, opaque formula this polish was a breeze to apply.

Simple strawberry nail art

Today I have some really cute nail art to show you. I have often seen these nails on Pinterest and always wanted to try them myself, so I decided it was now or never. Just in time for summer I did some simple strawberry nail art, and I was surprised at how easy it was! The design looks a little tricky at first glance, and seeing all the amazing photos on Pinterest was a little intimidating, but this nail art look was actually really simple.

Julep Phoebe is the perfect mermaid nail polish shade

Julep Phoebe is the perfect mermaid nail polish shade. This is pretty much a fact and once you see the polish you will totally agree.

I have been wearing this nail polish for almost a full week which is something I never do. I always get bored of a colour too quickly and change my nail polish very frequently. It is a shock if I can last more than three days with the same shade on my nails, so to be hitting seven days with Julep Phoebe is a big deal. I just got some great polishes in my June Julep Maven box, but I still reach for Phoebe for a fun summer mermaid shade.

Julep Phoebe, the perfect mermaid nail polish

Julep Phoebe, the perfect mermaid nail polish

Julep Phoebe is a gorgeous metallic green that leans a little to the teal side. It is super bright and bold and it a colour that you will keep looking at. In every light I kept checking out my nails and even after multiple days of wear it was just as stunning as the first day. I got a ton of comments and compliments on my nails while I was wearing Julep Phoebe.
