Too Faced Cat Eyes Palette: Swatches and Review

I recently got this palette in the Too Faced Mystery Bag 2016 and have been really enjoying it lately. One of the items that was included was an older palette, but one I didn’t have. The Too Faced Cat Eyes Palette has nine eye shadows included and is organized to make it easy to create 3 different looks. I was definitely excited to get this palette even if it isn’t new and trendy – it had some neat shades, glitter, and a theme that I love!

The Too Faced Cat Eyes Palette has three lighter shades in larger pans, which look perfect for base shades or highlights. It also has 6 smaller pans of shadows that range from dark to bright to glitter. The variety is nice to have in such a small palette and makes it easy to create different looks. There is even a little guidebook that offers instructions to create three looks using the shadows.

Too Faced Mystery Bag 2016: Unboxing and Review

I had a little bit of a shipping issue with my recent Too Faced order so this is coming in a little late. You may have seen it by now but this is the Too Faced Mystery Bag 2016. This bag was offered on Black Friday and was $49 CAD. The shipping and international fees were pretty crazy (over $20 each) but I had a discount code for Too Faced and it got me the bag plus all shipping/fees for $63. Still kind of pricey for a mystery bag but the brand claimed it would be worth over $100 in products.

Let’s take a look at the items included in the Too Faced Mystery Bag 2016!

Loving Lately: 16 Lipsticks In My Purse

A little while ago I cleaned out my current purses and emptied out all the lipsticks I had been carrying around lately. In two purses and my work bag I ended up finding 16 different lipsticks that I’ve been wearing a lot lately. I had quite a few in each bag and I have been rotating through these shades for the last few weeks. I thought it might be fun to swatch them all for a quick post, and I ended up doing mini reviews on a few of them too.

16 lipsticks I've been loving lately!

16 lipsticks I’ve been loving lately!

Out of the 16 lipsticks there are 8 different brands mixed in. I sorted them by brand in my swatch photo because that seemed easier than going by colour. Somehow I added the Maybelline Baby Lips tot he end of the row but everything else is sorted properly. If you see any that you want to see side-by-side feel free to ask and I can compare those!

Micellar Water Comparison: Garnier vs Bioderma

I recently discovered the wonders of Micellar Water after totally ignoring the products for months. I used up a small 100ml size of the Bioderma Sebium H20 Micellar Water as my first foray into the product and I fell in love with it. Since the Bioderma brand is much more expensive I decided to try the drugstore favourite from Garnier to compare. Today I have a Micellar Water Comparison between the Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water and the Bioderma Sebium H20 Micellar Water.

I absolutely loved the Bioderma Sebium H20 version. It was my first experience with Micellar Water and I totally saw why people have been raving over this product. It changed my skin completely in both the look and feeling of it, and I was thrilled with the product. I wasn’t thrilled with the price tag, as it retails for $26.95 for the 500ml bottle where I am.

I figured that I could try a drugstore version at a fraction of the cost since the Garnier Micellar Water is under $10 for the 400ml bottle. I saw a ton of great reviews online for the Garnier SkinActive version so I was very hopeful, but unfortunately I had the opposite experience.

Before I get to my personal comparison, I want to talk about the product differences. The Garnier product is much more soapy and bubbly, which you can see in the bottle photos. There are lots of bubbles and when I put it onto a cotton pad it has more of a soapy feel and smell. The Bidoerma one has much less bubbles and almost none come out when I squirt it onto a cotton pad. It also smells more refreshing.

The price difference is very obvious and the Garnier one is much more affordable. It also is easier to find whereas the Bioderma one is available at fewer retailers.

ColourPop Calypso Ultra Satin Lip

Last week I showed you the adorable mini Ultra Matte Lips in the ColourPop Foxy Set, and today I have another great ColourPop lippie to talk about. ColourPop Calypso is an Ultra Satin Lip that I fell in love with the first time I tried it. Calypso is described as a ‘mid-tone pinky nude‘ on the ColourPop website and I think that is definitely accurate.

ColourPop Calypso is a lovely peachy-pink nude shade

ColourPop Calypso is a lovely pink/nude shade

The reason I ordered ColourPop Calypso was because I wanted a peachy nude shade that could be an everyday colour. This definitely fits that need, and I love how this shade is subtle but so pretty. I got multiple compliments when I wore this over to my boyfriend’s family dinner, and even he kept telling me how much he loved my lipstick that day.

I have an olive skin tone so I wasn’t sure this shade would look the same on me as I have seen online, but it turned out to be a lovely pink/nude hue and I am really glad I got it.

ColourPop Calypso is an Ultra Satin Lip so it doesn’t dry down to a matte finish. It has a nice sheen to it and still feels light and comfortable to wear for long hours.
