As you may know by now, I really like the Sephora Favorites Lip sets. I have the Give Me Some Bold Lip, Give Me Some Lip and Liner, and the Give Me Some Lip set from 2016. I really have enjoyed all of these sets and love getting to try multiple brands and lip products for one price. Today I will be showing you the Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip 2017 set, which just came out a few days ago.
As usual this set comes with a mix of full size and deluxe mini size products. This time around the full size items were an Urban Decay Vice lipstick and an Estee Edit Lip Liner. Both items were very intriguing to me, and made this set worth the price tag. For $33 Canadian I got two full size and four deluxe mini lip items, and the full size ones alone are worth $21 and $24 respectively, so they make the set worth it.
Let’s take a look at what comes in the Give Me Some Nude Lip set!
The theme of this set was nude lips, as noted by the name Give Me Some Nude Lip. Although the concept of nude lipstick is very vague – what may be nude to a pale redhead is definitely not nude to my tanned olive skin tone, the overall look of these is neutral brown/beige/pink hues.
Interestingly enough, the plain Give Me Some Lip set I got last year was actually more nude based than this one is.
The six lip products included in this set are the following:
- Too Faced Cosmetics Melted Matte Liquified Matte Long Wear Lipstick in Queen B
- Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Honeycomb
- Marc Jacobs Beauty Le Marc Lip Crème in 246 Slow Burn
- Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in 1993 Comfort Matte
- Buxom® Full-On Lip Cream in White Russian
- Estée Edit The Barest Contour lip Liner in 05 In The Buff
Swatches are in the order of the products shown and listed above. I swatched the liner twice – once fuller and once as a single line just to compare.
The Too Faced Queen B liquid lipstick was quite pink on my skin tone, as was the Marc Jacobs Slow Burn shade. Urban Decay 1993 was a true brown and I ended up really liking it a lot. It reminded me of a 90’s grunge style and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked wearing this one.
The Bite Beauty Honeycomb colour is the most accurate nude shade for me and I can see myself wearing this for a neutral everyday look. The Estee Edit lip liner was also a good nude shade and I liked it as well.
The Buxom White Russian gloss was a nice texture and I actually liked the sheer pale hue, but the scent is turning me off. It has a very strong, fake sweet, cotton candy scent that I really didn’t like. It was so sickeningly sweet that I had to get it off my arm shortly after the photos, but I wonder if I had left it perhaps it would have faded.
Although I definitely don’t consider the Give Me Some Nude Lip set full of six actual nude lipstick shades, I do like the set. I like the one nude lipstick (Bite Beauty) and like the pinky/mauve shades of the Too Faced and Marc Jacobs ones. The brown Urban Decay and Estee Edit lip liner are great and I am thrilled that I got both of these at a good price. The Buxom gloss was a miss in my books because of the scent, but overall it didn’t change my mind on this lip kit.
The bottom line?
They may not be nude hued (at least for my skin tone) but I am very happy with 5 out of 6 items in the Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip 2017 set.
