Tarte Make Believe In Yourself Eye & Cheek Palette

Okay, I have to begin with saying that I know I am super late to the game with this palette. The Tarte Make Believe In Yourself Eye & Cheek Palette has been around for a while now (even though it says limited edition) and I have had my eye on it for a long time. It came in and out of my cart on multiple occasions but I always talked myself out of it somehow. Until now. Spoiler alert: I absolutely love it!

I bought this Tarte palette as an early birthday present to myself when Tarte was having a recent sale. I got it at a great price ($33 Canadian when it usually is $52) and was pretty excited to finally get it. I have heard and seen a lot about it and always was interested, but when it finally arrived at my doorstep and I opened it up I was totally blown away. This palette it way better than I pictured it to be, and swatch photos online did it no justice. I was so impressed and happily surprised with how much more I loved this palette in person. I am so glad that I bought it and it had become one of my absolute favourite palettes in my collection now.

The Tarte Make Believe In Yourself Eye & Cheek Palette comes with 10 eyeshadows and one highlighter. The highlighter is intended for eye and cheek use and although at first I hardly noticed it, I actually ended up really liking it.

There is one strange thing about these 10 eyeshadows and I think everyone notices it right away when they see this palette. It has 9 shimmery metallic shadows and one random plain matte. I think that is such an odd choice, since this easily could have been an all shimmer fun palette. The one lonely little matte shadow (a nude light brown) is so out of place. It isn’t enough to really make a whole look with only one matte shadow so it probably could have been left out completely. I don’t find this a big deal but wanted to point it out because it did strike me as kind of strange and funny when I first got the palette.

Aside from one single matte hue, the other 9 shimmery shadows in the Tarte Make Believe in Yourself Eye & Cheek Palette are absolutely stunning. I am not kidding that I sat on the floor staring at the swatches and practically drooling over how gorgeous they are. Even now I keep scrolling back through photos of the swatches and just shaking my head at how amazing they all look. There are metallic, duochromes, mermaid hues, and more. Whatever you see in these swatches just imagine it amplified by 10 in real life.

To swatch the Tarte Make Believe in Yourself Eye & Cheek Palette I started from the top middle and went clockwise. I have the first five eyeshadows together followed by the other 5 shadows and the highlighter.

I can’t really pick favourites in this bunch. I seriously love them all and am so into the blue mermaid hues, the lighter duochromes, the bold metallics, and even the highlighter.

As for the formula of these shadows they are all pretty smooth and easy to work with. Myth (the matte hue) was noticeably drier and a bit chalky, but the 9 shimmers are great. I found some to be almost like cream shadows, where they felts a bit thicker and tackier, but in a smooth and creamy good kind of way. A lot of these reminded me of the L’Oreal Paris Infallible Eyeshadows which have a similar almost creamy feeling and intense metallic/shimmer payoff. The creamiest ones were Magic, Wings, Mystic, and Dream, but all of the shimmers were really nice.

Overall I am truly impressed with this palette and really glad I finally bought it. I love all of the colours, I love the formula, and the shimmer shades are seriously out of this world. I don’t own anything else like it and the colours are beautiful. The Tarte Make Believe In Yourself Eye & Cheek Palette has quickly become my favourite Tarte product and one of my favourite palettes I own.
