The last batch of my 25 Days of Beauty

Good morning and hello 2018! I cannot believe how fast time has flown by! I meant to finish up my 25 Days of Beauty fake advent calendar, but I have been so busy over the holidays. I actually ended up only getting to share 23 products, but I wanted to finish this out. Today I have products 16-23 to share and discuss, but I won’t be using the photos for all of them. If you are interested they are on my Instagram so you can see more over there!

These last products are the same as before – items I really really love or something exciting that I just had to show you. Most of them are quite old, but some are newer favourites or things that really surprised and impressed me. Let’s get right into my last group of the 25 Days of Beauty products!

Day 16) Viva La Juicy by Juicy Couture Perfume: This one was one that really surprised me. I have always seen how popular Juicy Couture scents are but have never once smelled or tried one myself. I got this as a sample through Influenster and was so impressed by the yummy, sweet, vanilla candy smell. I don’t know what I was expecting but I really really liked this one and over the past 2 months I have been wearing it a lot.

Day 17) Dr. Paw Paw Original Balm: I got this a long time ago in a subscription box and have been using it every night. It has a very unique feeling, and it is a creamy balm so it may take time to get used to, but it is not greasy or oily at all. It sinks right into my hands and I use it so often.

Day 18) Ciate London Liquid Velvet Lipstick in shade Pin Up: I got this from an Ipsy bag and have been absolutely obsessed with it ever since. I love the colour of it but more importantly the formula is incredible. It lasts all day long, through coffee, pizza, snacks, drinks, and more. It applies easily and smoothly, doesn’t dry out my lips, and is one of my all-time favourite lip products.

Day 19) Too Faced Peanut Butter and Jelly Palette: I got this as a gift last Christmas and I still use it a lot. I have brown eyes so I have always liked gold tones and purples to accent them, so this palette seems like it was made for me. You can see my full review on the palette here.

Day 20) Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer: I had heard so many great things about this bronzer for months and months before actually purchasing one myself. Once I did though I saw exactly what all the fuss was about – it is amazing! Super soft and easy to work with, and it gives a nice glow to the skin without any shimmer or glitter. I use this almost every day and love how it looks, and the yummy tropical scent is a total bonus!

Day 21) ColourPop SuperShock Shadow in shade Un: This is by far my favourite ColourPop product I own. This is such a lovely light golden shimmer and I use it so often. I swipe it all over my lid as a quick look, or use it as an inner corner or brow bone highlight with other looks. The formula is amazing, the colour is awesome, and the price was great. The only problem is that I think it was from a limited edition collection and now I can’t find it on the site to repurchase.

Day 22) Tarte Tarteist Quick Dry Lip Paint in shade Fomo: I love these Tarte lip paints and have a bunch of minis in different colours. I have been using this pretty shade a lot lately and I love the colour, long-wearing formula, and light application. It has a whipped texture so it feels very light to apply and wear, but it lasts for hours and is very pigmented.

Day 23) CoverGirl Oh Sugar! Lipstick in shade Gumdrop: This is a lighter semi-sheer lipstick that I use more as a balm. It really make my lips feel moisturized and soft, which is great in the cold weather. I like the purple hue because it leaves my lips with a nice berry tone flush of colour, without anything heavy or too thick.

There we have it, the remaining items in my 25 Days of Beauty products. I did not make it to Day 24 and 25 since it was all over the place at about 5 different family events for Christmas, but I hope you enjoyed the 23 items I did share this month.

After these 25 Days of Beauty I am now ready to jump into 2018 and discover all new favourites for the upcoming year. Leave me a comment and let me know some of your favourite beauty products from the past year!

CoverGirl Katy Kat Pearl Eyeshadow + Highlight

I have not seen any talk of these online yet but the other day I was running errands and happened to see a small display of this new CoverGirl line. The collection was the Katy Perry Pearl line and it included some neat shades of lipstick, eyeliner, and these dual use highlighter/eyeshadow pots. I have way too much lipstick so I passed on those but I chose this shade of the highlighter and shadow since it seemed like a good neutral hue that would work for everyday wear. Check out my review and photos of the CoverGirl Katy Kat Pearl Eyeshadow + Highlight below!

Last Week in Lipstick: Volume 3

Wow, time is flying! I am already on my third week of this lipstick tracking plan and I have really been branching out with my choices. I have no repeats from last week and once again I have rediscovered some favourites that haven’t gotten any attention lately.

This was a fun week with some liquid lipsticks, hot pink, metallic lips, and everything in between. I wore a lot of older lipsticks and enjoyed remembering some of those shades I love. Check out all 7 of the lipsticks I wore last week!

CoverGirl Katy Kat Eye Mascara in Perry Blue

I have always loved the look of coloured mascara but it seems hard to show up on my dark lashes. I have tried a few in the past that delivered little colour, or very faint colours, but nothing that really wowed me and stood out over my dark lashes. Recently I spotted the CoverGirl Katy Kat Eye Mascara and knew that I have to give it a shot. I really liked the demi-matte lipstick from the CoverGirl Katy Perry line, which I reviewed here, so I was hoping this mascara would be just as good. The shade I chose was the bright blue, called Perry Blue. It actually only comes in this shade and two black hues, but I am glad to see a coloured option.

The CoverGirl Katy Kat Eye Mascara has a chic clean white tube that I love. I loved the lipstick packaging for the same reason, and this mascara is just as cool. Aside from the bold packaging, it has a really cool brush too. The brush on this mascara is rounded with a little spiral to it and I actually quite liked it. This mascara is advertised to give you dark and full lashes with 10x the volume, but I never really believe the 10x or big claims like that. All I want is a nice fringe and some bright blue colour.

Review: CoverGirl Plumpify Blast Pro Mascara

After falling in love with the recent CoverGirl Katy Kat Matte Lipstick launch I knew my next post would have to be this one. A while ago I bought the CoverGirl Plumpify Blast Pro Mascara and although the brush looks pretty intimidating I was dying to try it. I didn’t pull out a protractor to measure the claim of 50% more volume, but this mascara really did deliver on long, lush lashes.

The unique brush of the CoverGirl Plumpify Blast Pro Mascara

The CoverGirl Plumpify Blast Pro Mascara has one of the funkiest brushes you will ever see. It is super stiff and has all kinds of turns and angles which can be dangerous when working so close to your eyes. I have poked myself once or twice with this wand but if you are careful with it you can work magic. Like I said, it is is super stiff and the bristles are hard plastic, but they divide and conquer lashes with ease. I got tons of length and definition with this funky wand and I really love the result.

Review: CoverGirl Katy Kat Matte Lipstick in the shade Cat Call

I was really excited about the new CoverGirl Katy Kat Matte lipstick collection when I first heard about it. Since then I have seen so many photos, swatches, and even videos on the CoverGirl Snapchat and I have been even more excited about these new lipsticks. This Katy Perry lipstick line has super bold shades with a demi-matte finish and they are all really pretty colours.

I finally got around to picking one up and I am in love with it already. The shade, the formula, and the clean white packaging make this CoverGirl Katy Kat Matte lipstick one of my new favourites for Spring! The colours totally suit the pop star style of Katy Perry and the cat related names are super cute too!

I love the white rectangular tube of this lipstick. It is super clean and neat and I love that it is different from all my other lipsticks. The CoverGirl Katy Kat Matte lipstick tubes are bold and edgy but still chic and classic, which is fitting with Katy Perry behind the collection. CoverGirl has had some pretty great celebrity lines in recent years and the CoverGirl Katy Kat Matte lipstick line is no exception.

The shade I bought is Cat Call and I chose it because it was different than my dark berry shades I have been reaching for lately. I am a huge fan of berry lips and have been loving lipsticks like the Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor lately, but for the warm weather I wanted to lighten up. The shade I picked, Cat Call, is a warm mid-tone pink shade. It appears lighter in my swatch than it does in the tube, but the tube shade is actually more accurate. I had a lot of sunlight when I took my swatch photo.

The demi-matte formula is amazing and it is super creamy without being to heavy or thick. My lipstick lasted for around 6 hours without fading or smudging, and it didn’t dry my lips out after so many hours of wear. I only needed one swipe to apply since these lipsticks are very opaque.

I really like the CoverGirl Katy Kat Matte lipstick in Cat Call so I think I might have to pick up another shade or two next time I go to Shopper’s Drug Mart!

I have 11 mascaras to talk about today

I recently had a big beauty cleanup and found 11 mascaras that I no longer use or are well past their expiration. Some of these I haven’t touched in a long time and others I used up diligently until they were empty. These 11 mascaras are from a variety of brands and have been some of the most popular mascaras in the past few years. Lately I have been loving the Essence Cosmetics Lash Princess Volume Mascara but before that I was playing around with any number of these 11 mascaras on any given day.

Out of these 11 mascaras there are four Maybelline ones, two CoverGirl ones, and a Rimmel London, Tarte, Sephora Collection, New York Color, and L’Oreal Paris one. In terms of mascara I do usually tend to look at Maybelline brand, but recently have found great formulas with Rimmel London, Essence Cosmetics, and L’Oreal Paris.

Review: CoverGirl TruNaked Roses Eye Shadow Palette

Okay, aside from the tongue twister name of this product I was really looking forward to trying the CoverGirl TruNaked Roses Eye Shadow Palette. I saw it on sale and happened to have a $1 CoverGirl coupon so I only paid $11.99 instead of the regular $14.99. I had read so much about this and how it has an incredible formula for the eye shadows so I knew I needed to check it out. I also have heard it is similar to the Urban Decay Naked Palettes which I don’t have and probably won’t be spending $50 on anytime soon. I figured this seemed like a good option for something similar, and I was super curious about the creamy powder formula.

CoverGirl TruNaked Roses Eye Shadow Palette

As soon as I opened it I knew exactly what everyone had been talking about. The hype is real. These eye shadows have a creamy smooth powder formula that feels amazing. They apply like a dream come true and deliver opaque colour with just one swipe. The formula is much smoother than similar palettes, including the Maybelline New York The Nudes one that I really like. I love the colours on that one but the formula is drier. This CoverGirl one is like silk in comparison. It is actually fascinating how it is dry powder but somehow applies like a silky smooth cream. This is definitely my favourite drugstore eye shadow palette out of all the ones I have ever tried.

Shoppers Drug Mart Optimum Points Haul ft. Urban Decay Naked Smoky

Yesterday I got the ultimate Shoppers Drug Mart Optimum points haul! It was a bonus redemption day so my 50,000 points that would normally value $85 were able to get me $100 instead. I have been eyeing the Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette for a long time and this was the perfect time to get the palette, worth $66, for free. To reach the full $100 I was able to add a bunch of other beauty goodies to my haul and ended up getting some great items that I have been dying to try.

Shoppers Drug Mart Optimum Points Haul ft. CoverGirl, Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette, Essence Cosmetics, and more!

My recent Shoppers Drug Mart Optimum points haul ft. CoverGirl mascara, the Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette, Essence Cosmetics mascara, and more!

In my Shoppers Drug Mart Optimum points haul I got the following items:

  • Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette: $66
  • CoverGirl Plumpify Blast Pro Mascara: Normally $10.99, on sale for $7.99
  • CoverGirl Bombshell Powder Brow & Liner: Normally $10.99, on sale for $7.99
  • Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara: $4.99
  • Essence Liquid Eyeliner: $3.99
  • Nivea Hydro Care Lip Balm: Normally $4.99, on sale for $3.99
  • Softsoap Wild Basil and Lime Soap: Normally $4.99, on sale for $3.99
  • New York Color Smooch-Proof Lip Stain: Normally $5.99, on sale for $4.99

The total of those items at the sale price was just over $100, and with the Optimum bonus I only had to pay the tax. I ended up spending only $17 on a ton of items that would normally cost over $100! That is crazy! My Shoppers Drug Mart Optimum points haul was a huge success and I am thrilled with everything I got.

I had been wanting to try the Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara to compare it to the Lash Princess Volume Mascara which I love. You can see my review on that here. The Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette is a huge deal itself because when else can you get that iconic palette for under $20? The rest of the items are either essentials (like the hand soap and Nivea lip balms) or items I have been curious about for a while but just hadn’t purchased.
