Swatches of 14 lipsticks I found in my purse

Do you remember a while back when I found 16 lipsticks that were in my purse? I recently had the same thing happen when I could not find most of my go-to daily shades. I checked my current purse and there they were. Clearly I really like these shades since I keep using them and reaching for them on the go, so I decided to post about them. See below for swatches and more information an all 14 lipsticks I found in my purse!

All 14 lipsticks that were living in my purse

There are a few odd shades with bolder hues or something different, but the majority of these are everyday go-to lipsticks. They have been piling up in my bag for about a month now, but I love having them on hand when I need a touch up at work or have a spontaneous dinner date. Almost all of these 14 lipsticks are able to be worn with any look and are shades I can apply in a quick swipe and not worry about. These are some of my most tried and true lipsticks, so keep reading to see the swatches!

I am so impressed by the Maybelline Velvet Lip Crayon formula!

OMG I have to talk about the creamiest lip crayon I have ever tried! The recent Maybelline ColorDrama Intense Velvet Lip Crayon line has some of the smoothest and most buttery lip crayons I have ever seen. I can’t really find a way to describe it but I was so blown away by how creamy the formula is on these pencils. They glide on like butter (but not in a greasy gross way) and feel light and smooth to wear.

Maybelline Velvet Lip Crayons in shades Nude Pefection, Berry Much, and Red Essential

Maybe the reason I am so shocked by this is because they are matte lip pencils, and matte lip products in general can be drying but the pencil factor usually makes it worse. That is not the case with these Velvet Lip Crayons at all.

There are a bunch of colour options for the Maybelline Velvet Lip Crayon and they all have great pigmentation. They glide on and don’t feel thick or heavy to wear. The crayon shape allows for more precise application which is awesome. They feel like the most buttery lipstick but apply much more crisply and simply with the pencil shape.

I honestly was worried that these may be dry or tough to apply, especially since the colours looked almost dusty when I first opened them. It was some sort or weird haze on the top layer but in a second it went away and the true colour and formula came out.

March Beauty Favourites

Today I want to show you a few of my favourite products from the month of March. These are the items I have been using most often over the last few weeks and a few things I’ve recently added to my collection or rediscovered in my collection. Check out my March beauty favourites below!

My March beauty favourites

My March beauty favourites

Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Skin Transforming Powder: I’ve been on the hunt for a foundation that I really like and have had such a hard time finding one. After almost a month of trying different ones and not getting the results I want I ended up going back to this Maybelline powder and I’m so happy with it. I started using this a while ago and posted all about it. I really love it because it’s the perfect colour match, it feels great to wear, it’s light, and it has salicylic acid. I may keep searching for that perfect foundation but in the meantime I love that I have this favourite to fall back on.

Quo Matte Bronzer in Light Tan: This is a new favourite but ever since I got it a few weeks ago I have been using it almost every day. I love the light formula the matte finish in the shade is perfect for a slight warmth I can add to my face. You can see my original post on it here.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal: I got this famous highlighter a long time ago in a Sephora Favorites box and I liked it at the time but never really reached for it. A few weeks ago I decided to grab it again and it quickly became one of my March beauty favorites. I love the glow it adds to my skin and it really is noticeable even though it’s subtle. I don’t know if that makes sense but it seems like such a small item to add to my routine in the morning but throughout the day when I catch myself in the mirror I love the shimmer it delivers. On a regular day with my basic work makeup, or on a night out with a more glam look, using this Becca highlighter really adds something special. Even my boyfriend notices when I wear it because he says I look “extra glowy“.

Swatches of some of my March beauty favourites from L-R: Tarte Lip Paint, Ciate London Liquid Velvet, Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector, and ColourPop Super Shock Shadow

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in Un: This is the shade that I got quite a while back and I loved it when I first got it but it kind of fell to the side. Recently I wanted a slight shimmery wash of shadow for an every day look and this is what I chose. Since then I have been wearing it multiple times per week as a single shadow across my lids to brighten my eyes. It takes almost no time or effort to apply but it really makes a difference to wear ColourPop Un on my lids instead of no shadow at all. This is a great single shadow to throw on quickly and I’ve been loving this as one of my March beauty favourites.

Tarte Tartiest Lip Paint in Vibin: I just got this in my March Ipsy bag and have been absolutely loving it ever cents. I’ve worn it multiple times and I love the light formula, I love the brick red colour, and I love how it feels like I’m wearing nothing even though I have a bold lip shade on. This Tarte Lip paint has quickly become one of my favourite liquid lipsticks that I own, and considering how many I have that is a big deal!

Ciate London Liquid Velvet in Pin Up: This is another liquid lipstick but I’ve been really love it it’s a lighter shade and almost MLBB but more pink. Just like the Tarte one this has a great formula and feels super light to wear. I get so many compliments on this colour as an every day lip look. I got this from an older Ipsy Bag but only recently reached for it.

Overall these six products are my March beauty favourites and I have been reaching for them very often this past month. I like that some of them are newer items and some are older ones I rediscovered in my stash. I love coming back to an old favourite or something that I haven’t used in a while and many of these are great examples of that.

I will definitely be continuing to use these going forward but at the same time I am looking forward to seeing what other products I will be reaching for during the month of April!

Last Week in Lipstick: Volume 4

Wow I cannot believe I have been tracking my lipstick for four weeks now! I have been wearing a wide variety of lipsticks, glosses, stains, and more. I love finding old favourites in my collection and it has been a lot of fun to try everything so far. As always, here are my seven different lipsticks I wore this past week, and my thoughts/review on each one.

The seven lipstick shades I wore last week

The seven lipstick shades I wore last week

Monday: ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip in shade Mama

I was so impressed with this shade. It was the perfect muted orange red that wasn’t too orange or too red. It looked great on and lasted super long, even through meals. It did not feel drying or thick and had the perfect application with one thin coat that was so crisp on my lip lines. This one quickly jumped up to the top of my ColourPop favourites.

Tuesday: L’Oreal Paris Le Matte Lip Colour in shade Mad For Matte

I wanted a super bold bright red for Valentine’s Day and this was the perfect choice. This is such a creamy formula and even though it is a matte lipstick it feels smooth and soft and more like a balm to wear. I love this L’Oreal line and every time I wear one I love them even more. The bold colour, great formula, long-lasting power, and creamy feel make this one of my favourite lipstick.

Wednesday: ColourPop Sheer Lippie Stix in shade Whip

This lipstick looks so crazy and bold in the tube but it actually comes out like a lovely medium purple wash of colour when I apply it. I think it has to do with the sheer formula. I love how shiny and smooth this makes me lips and it really feels moisturizing for quite a few hours. It does have a slightly odd scent when I first apply it but luckily that fades quickly and I am only left with the pretty colour.

Thursday: Maybelline New York SuperStay 14HR Lipstick in shade Enduring Ruby

This lipstick was a total surprise to stumble upon because I ddin not even know I had it. I picked it up because I liked the shade and decided to give it a shot, and ended up really falling for it. I loved the deep red hue but I also loved how shiny it was, how long it lasted, and how great it felt to wear. This might be an older Maybelline release but it is still going strong and I was super impressed with it. I can’t say it lasted 14 hours but it definitely lasted strongly through breakfast, coffees, and lunch.

Friday: Maybelline New York Baby Lips in shade Spice it Up

This is one of my consistent go-to balms because it feels awesome to wear and delivers great colour. I love a lot of the Baby Lips shades but this one is one of my top three because it has a nice spicy red/pink shade that is easily build-able for a more opaque look.

Saturday: NYC Smooch Proof Liquid Lip Stain on shade On Everyone’s Lips

I like this lip stain because it is very light and thin. It ends up looking similar to my regular lip colour but a bit more mauve tinted. It’s easy to work with and lasts me a few hours with a nice colour. It is a browny/mauve hue that can be built up a little with an extra layer.

Sunday: Buxom Full-On Lip Cream in shade Kir Royale

I rarely wear glosses but I picked up this pretty deep red gloss for something different to end the week. I like the shade and consistency, and it feels good to wear. I don’t love the fake cotton candy scent but for such a pretty dark red gloss I was able to forgive that.

So there we go, my fourth week of tracking my lipstick and I have found some serious favourites. I love the Maybelline SuperStay shade, and seem to be repeating ColourPop Ultra Mattes a lot, and have had some great options with tinted balms. Tracking these lipstick weeks has made me really appreciate my collection a lot more and I am enjoying shopping my stash. I can’t wait to see what shades I pick this week!

My Last Week of Lipstick: Volume 2

Welcome to another installment of my week of lipstick picks! Last time (my very first one) I showed off the 7 lip products I wore over the week to encourage myself to keep wearing new shades and trying to branch out a bit. It worked so well and I loved seeing the different shades I ended up picking through the week. There were a few similar shades in the first week so I made extra sure to pick really different ones this time around.

The 7 lipsticks I wore this week vary a lot in shades and formulas. I ended up finding a few old favourites (hello MAC Rebel) and picking up some shades I hadn’t worn in a while. I only had one repeat product in this week of lipstick, but my goal for the coming week is to have none!

Loving Lately: 16 Lipsticks In My Purse

A little while ago I cleaned out my current purses and emptied out all the lipsticks I had been carrying around lately. In two purses and my work bag I ended up finding 16 different lipsticks that I’ve been wearing a lot lately. I had quite a few in each bag and I have been rotating through these shades for the last few weeks. I thought it might be fun to swatch them all for a quick post, and I ended up doing mini reviews on a few of them too.

16 lipsticks I've been loving lately!

16 lipsticks I’ve been loving lately!

Out of the 16 lipsticks there are 8 different brands mixed in. I sorted them by brand in my swatch photo because that seemed easier than going by colour. Somehow I added the Maybelline Baby Lips tot he end of the row but everything else is sorted properly. If you see any that you want to see side-by-side feel free to ask and I can compare those!

Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Powder

I have been using this powder for a few weeks now and it has quickly turned into a favourite in my makeup bag. The Maybelline New York SuperStay Better Skin Powder has been my everyday base and I love how light it feels but how nicely it covers. I use the shade 50, called Natural Beige, and find it perfect for my skin tone. It leaves my face looking fresh and smooth but almost natural. I definitely don’t look like I am wearing foundation or thick powder and I love that. The Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Powder really surprised me with it’s coverage, formula, and oil-free ingredients.

I have somewhat oily skin and get blemishes here and there so I don’t feel comfortable going barefaced, but I dislike the feel of heavy or thick liquid foundation. I usually can’t use just powder because my oily skin seeps through, but with this powder it has salicylic acid as an ingredient and I find that helps a lot. Even with a full day of wear I don’t find much oil appearing where it typically does so I am really pleased with that.

I have been pretty impressed with Maybelline products lately, including the Master Precise Curvy Liquid Liner than changed my eyeliner game completely.

Nude Liquid Lipsticks: Drugstore Dupe?

When I first heard about the Maybelline New York LipStudio Color Jolt Intense Lip Paints (one of which I reviewed here) I heard about a few possible dupes to some Too Faced Melted Liquid Lipstick shades. One of those shades in question was the Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Melted Chihuahua, (shown here) which was meant to be pretty close to the Maybelline Color Jolt in the shade Stripped Down. With one being much more affordable than the other (hello Maybelline!) I decided to put them to the test and see if they really were a match. Let’s take a look at this drugstore vs. high end comparison and see if we really have a dupe with these popular nude liquid lipsticks shade.

Maybelline Color Jolt Lip Paint in Stripped Down and Too Faced Melted Liquefied Lipstick in Melted Chihuahua

Maybelline Color Jolt Lip Paint in Stripped Down and Too Faced Melted Liquified Lipstick in Melted Chihuahua

The Maybelline Color Jolt lipstick is a pretty new launch and just came on the market a few months ago. It retails for about 10 dollars. The Too Faced lippie I am showing is a deluxe mini size which is but the real size is retails for about 25 dollars. Right away the Maybelline one is a better choice for my bank account, but it all depends on the colour to see if they are dupes.

Maybelline Master Precise Curvy Liquid Liner

As much as I adore makeup and love playing with all kinds of beauty products, there has always been one thing that I could never get quite right. Liquid eyeliner has been the toughest thing for me to figure out, and no matter how hard I try and how many brands or items I have used, I have never ever mastered a cat eye. Unfortunately I still haven’t yet but I am getting much closer to that goal since I picked up the new Maybelline Master Precise Curvy Liquid Liner. This eyeliner has been by far the easiest one for me to use, and as a seriously liquid-liner challenged person that is a huge accomplishment.

The new Maybelline Master Precise Curvy Liquid Liner

The new Maybelline Master Precise Curvy Liquid Liner

I wish I could say that I just suddenly mastered Gigi Hadid level eyeliner with this new product but I definitely think my skills need a bit more work. I have however finally figured out how to get a smooth and thin line of crisp black liner with the Maybelline Master Precise Curvy Liquid Liner. The name of the item is a mouthful but the results are near perfection.
