September 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag

Does anyone else feel like you just woke up and suddenly it was almost through September? It came so quickly and I feel like summer passed by in a matter of minutes. September means the start of Fall, lots of people going back to school, Pumpkin Spice Lattes, and of course my September 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag!

I want to start off by saying that I totally love the bag this month! I love the chic black faux leather studded style. It’s cool but still simple and I can see myself using this for more than just miscellaneous storage.

Aside from the cool bag design, I think I got a pretty good bag this month. My September 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag has three full size items which is awesome.

All of the items in my September 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag

All of the items in my September 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag

The items in my September 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag are the following:

  • ColourPop Comsetics Lippie Stix in shade Glam Bag: This is an exclusive colour created in collaboration with Ipsy. It is a beautiful bold magenta hue and has a matte formula. I love ColourPop Lippie Stix (and liquid lipsticks) and have a bunch already so this was something I knew I would enjoy.
  • Hanalei Papaya Enzyme Powder Cleanser: I have never heard of a powder cleanser but this sounded neat. It’s meant to be a super gentle scrub that is safe for sensitive skin so I will be giving this a try.
  • Smashbox Cosmetics Photo Finish Radiance Primer: This is pretty much a primer mixed with a glowing highlighter so it could be pretty cool. I don’t tend to go for radiant finishes since I already have pretty oily skin but I do like other Smashbox primers so I will give this a chance.
  • Manefit Beauty Planner Masks (2 sheet masks): This was so fun to get two sheet masks that count as one item. One mask is Astringent + Pore Care and the other one is Whitening + Brightening. Unfortunately I did try the Astringent + Pore Care one and though it felt nice on it left my skin very tingly afterwards so it might have been a bit strong for me.
  • Pixi by Petra Fresh Face Blush in shade Beach Rose: This blush has a soft rosy shade and is made with hydrating ingredients like Vitamin E. It’s really pretty and I liked the last Pixi brand items I tried, so I am excited about this blush.

Out of the items in this bag I really love the ColourPop Lippie Stix and Pixi by Petra Blush. The blush swatched nearly invisible on my arm, but on my cheeks it was a nice light rosy tint.

The Hanalei cleanser is a unique product I have never tried and I really like the chance to check out new items each month. The Smashbox primer has me a little skeptical due to my skin type but I love seeing this brand in my Ipsy bag.

Overall I think two items are amazing, one is neat to try (the powder cleanser), and two are so-so (Smashbox and the masks). I would say that is a pretty good verdict for my September 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag, but I think I liked my August bag better.

Did you get a glam bag this month? Let me know what you got in yours or what you think of mine!

The lip products range in shades and formulas, featuring reds, nudes, pinks and everything in between. There are lip glosses, matte lipsticks, glitter formulas, and more. I love the variety in this set and think it is a great way to test out multiple brands and lip products in one kit. It costs $82 Canadian and has 5 full size products along with 10 deluxe minis. It is the priciest of the Lip Kits but it also has the most items in it.

Out of all 15 lip products in the Sephora Favorites Give Me More Lip Set I have only tried a few of them. Some of them I have had minis of in previous Lip Kits, such as the Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss, Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Quench Lip Rescue, and Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick. They were all different shades though so that makes every item in this kit a new colour for me.

Swatches of the Laura Mericer, Sephora Collection, Marc Jacobs, Tarte, Too Faced, and Urban Decay

Out of all 15 I was most excited for the Too Faced Melted Latex, Huda Beauty Matte Liquid Lipstick, and the Anastasia Beverly Hills Gloss. I was surprised by how much I liked Bobbi Brown lipstick and it’s heavy luxurious packaging.

Swatches of Touch in Sol (matte and metallic), Bobbi Brown, YSL, and Wander Beauty (dual ended)

Swatches of Touch in Sol (matte and metallic), Bobbi Brown, YSL, and Wander Beauty (dual ended)

With my tanned skin tone I tend to find some of these kits to have very light shades that don’t work on my colouring, and this did happen in this case as well. I found that Laura Mercier lipstick was much too light and I was surprised that the Tarte one was nearly a clear balm.

Swatches of the Dior, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Smashbox, Huda Beauty, and Hourglass

Swatches of the Dior, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Smashbox, Huda Beauty, and Hourglass

Overall the Sephora Favorites Give Me More Lip Set has a whole bunch of great brands and formulas to try out. I really like almost every item in the kit and although it has a hefty price tag it does include 5 full size lip products and 10 minis, so I think it works out. I love getting to try out a mix of brands, colours, and formulas with these sets. I think this one would be a great Christmas gift idea, either for one person or for a group of friends to split up. It has a little something for every preference and is a fun way to get higher end brands without dropping big bucks on just a single lippie.

My Last Week of Lipstick: Volume 1

Since 2017 started I have been pushing myself to try more of my makeup and use different items that I own. I know I have some of my favourites (like the Sweet Peach palette and ColourPop lipsticks) but I wanted to branch out and give all my makeup some equal love. One of the ways I have been able to do that is by changing my lipstick every day. No matter how rushed I am I always make sure to grab a different lippie every morning.

This started as an accident almost but by the end of a week I noticed I had a bunch of different lipsticks in my purse, which I wore that week. Since I really enjoyed doing the 16 lipsticks I found in my purse post I decided to start posting about these as well.

So now here we are with my first week in review. I am including little notes on each item and have swatches as well!

Here are all the lipsticks I wore last week!

Using Up My Beauty and Skincare Samples (#ProjectPan)

Good morning beauties! Today I have a bit of a different post for you. I have decided that I really need to start using up my beauty and skincare samples so I laid them all out and am taking a mini inventory! I realize that I have a ton of products that are just sitting in my sample section, waiting to be used.

Sure, samples are great for travelling – but what if I don’t have anywhere to go? Instead of keeping these forever and letting them wait around I have decided to start using them now.

I know some of these beauty and skincare samples are items I already have used and like, but many are brand new to me. I don’t think I would want to be trying a new face mask or skin cream on a trip anyways, since it could react badly to my skin and end up making it worse. I would rather do my experimenting at home. The few ones I know I like and will use can wait for a trip since they take less space for packing, but anything new or unknown to me has to be used up at home. So far the only ones that I feel confident to travel with are the Smashbox primers and Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I also think I could wing it with the mini Urban Decay Lipstick and Sephora eyeliner pencil since those are pretty generic and I can work with any shade.

Tons of beauty and skincare samples I am going to start using up!

Tons of beauty and skincare samples I am going to start using up!

These photos are what is left of my samples after a mini purge – I set aside a bunch of masks and skincare for my mom and best friend, and took out any foundations that were not my shade. Check out the long list below of all the beauty and skincare samples that I decided to keep.

I tried to organize in a top to bottom/left to right listing so it should be pretty simple to follow along!

Beauty and Skincare Samples Pictured Above:

  • Philosophy Renewed Hope In A Jar Moisturizer
  • Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer (x4)
  • Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil Shampoo

  • Too Faced Born This Way Foundation: Sable and Light Beige

  • Shiseido Shimmering Cream Eyecolor: Mist, Magnolia, and Purple Dawn
  • Make Up For Ever HD Blush: 410
  • Clarins Rouge Prodige Lipstick: Raspberry Sorbet, Coral Tulip, Red Prodige, and Redwood
  • Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner: Black Ink and Steel Ink
  • Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Moisturizing Lipstick: Red Door, Pretty Pink, and Neoclassic

Almost all of these are the samples I get from Sephora orders and some have been sitting around for nearly 6 months. A few items are from subscription boxes and they just snuck in here accidentally, since I usually keep those in separate sections.

I am really excited to start using these up and look forward to trying some new beauty and skincare items. This is kind of a mini start to a panning challenge or#projectpan as I always see on Instagram. I have no idea how long this will take me or if I will discover any new favourites, but I will be keeping you posted along the way! Wish me luck to start making some serious progress on these beauty and skincare samples!

Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Lip & Liner Set

Recently I have posted about the Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Lip Set and the additional Give Me Some Bold Lip Set, which had a mix of 6 lip products in deluxe mini and full sizes for around $30. Today I have a bigger set to show you that follows the same theme. The Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Lip & Liner Set has 14 lip products in the set, which retails for $72 on the sephora.ca site.

Out of the 14 products there are 4 full size items and 10 deluxe minis. Out of all the items there are 2 glosses, 2 enhancers, 5 lipsticks and 5 coordinating lip liners. For the price tag this is super reasonable, as the full size items actually cots $26, $29, $15, and $25 each, which totals to $95 alone, not including any of the deluxe minis. On the Sephora site it says the total value of the box is $222.

Aside from being a great deal to get a range of products, it happens to have a wide variety of brands, colours, and finishes for any lip lover. Since I recently bought the other two lip sets I wasn’t sure that the Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Lip & Liner set would be that different but it definitely is. With lots of colours to pick from I feel set for a long time with my lipstick options.

Swatches of the Sephora Give Me Some Lip Set

Yesterday I posted about the 6 lip products in the Sephora Give Me Some Lip Set, and today I have swatches and further reviews on each of the 6 items. There are 4 deluxe minis and 2 full size products included in this set. It was a good deal for me and I am pleased with all of the items in it, as well as the shades.

Let’s start with the full size products included in the Sephora Give Me Some Lip set. The two full size items are the Lancome Juicy Shaker in the shade Boom-Meringue, which smells slightly like lemon. This is a lip oil which is super trendy right now, and it is the first lip oil I have ever tried. It doesn’t have much colour even though it is a nice pink hue in the bottle, but it basically acts as a soft, smooth, clear oil that keeps lips moisturized. I like the feeling and scent of it, and I don’t mind that it’s clear. It’s nice for everyday use and something totally different than anything I own.

The other full size item is the Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick in the shade Stepping Out. This was the real stunner from the Sephora Give Me Some Lip set, at least in my opinion. This is a super smooth liquid matte lipstick that truly lasts and works like a charm. This lipstick is the perfect nude shade and once you apply it you don’t have to worry for hours. I loved the look of this and the formula, and am thrilled with this full size item being included in this set.

The deluxe mini items in this set range from a classic red lip balm to a Too Faced Melted Matte, and I am generally happy with all 4 of them. As I mentioned in my previous post, my Mom loves the NARS Satin Lip Pencil in the shade Rikugien, and although I like the colour I find it too sheer for my skin tone. She’ll be getting this one from me and I know she will get some good use out of it.

Another item I have already used from the Sephora Give Me Some Lip set is the Fresh Sugar Rose Tinted Lip Treatment. I used to have one a long time ago and was excited to get another. It has a lovely scent and very light rosy colour, with the feeling of a balm. It’s soft, smooth, and has SPF 15 so it is an awesome everyday lip product for any season.  It offers a hint of colour but nothing dramatic or bold.

The Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in the shade Chihuahua is a smooth liquid lipstick with a great formula and applicator. I have a few of the Too Faced Melted lippies which I love, so this was great to get a nude hue. I like the colour of it but the soft formula is what really gets me. This applies so nicely and I really like how it feels super light and soft on my lips while still delivering lots of pigment.

The last deluxe mini in this Sephora Give Me Some Lip set is the Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in the shade Lovecraft. I had been hearing about this shade for a while and was definitely surprised when I saw what it looked like in real life. It has a lavender hint to it and is a very light pink nude, which is different than anything I own. I haven’t decided yet if it suits my skin tone but I am excited to experiment with it.

Overall these 6 lip products in this set are all really different items, and as I said previously this set was a great deal at $33 for all of the included items. I got some really awesome brands and a variety of nude shades and formulas, so I feel like I am set for Fall with these lippies.

Sephora Give Me Some Lip Set

I recently made a Sephora order and was super impressed to have my items arrive in 2 days! How quick is that? I never get that type of delivery with other brands and it was great to get my products so quickly. One of the things I ordered, which I want to show you today, is the Sephora Give Me Some Lip Set which included 6 lip products in deluxe mini sizes and full sizes. Out of the 6 items there are 2 full size ones, and with the set retailing for $33 that is a pretty good deal.

The Sephora Give Me Some Lip Set featuring 4 deluxe minis and two fill size items

Speaking of a good deal – I got this when there was an eBates bonus for 16% cashback at Sephora.ca, and I am really pleased with that. I have had eBates for about 6 months now and gotten over $60 in cashback just from my regular online shopping, nothing special or big ticket items. If you’re interested in checking it out and earning a little extra makeup money then you can use my link here and sign up.

Out of the items included in the Sephora Give Me Some Lip Set I have tried 2 of the 6 exact shades included, but I wasn’t disappointed with them being in the set. I got the NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien from the birthday gift last year and although I liked it for a sheer colour, my Mom really loved it and I gave her mine. We have been looking for dupes since then but with this set I got another one so I can just pass that along to her and she’ll be happy.

The other item I have tried is the Fresh Sugar Rose Lip Tint, which I actually really liked from the Sephora birthday gift a few years ago. I have either lost it or gave it a friend since then, and recently have been wanting to get a replacement so having it in this set was great.

The 6 lip products inside the Sephora Give Me Some Lip Set

The 6 lip products inside the Sephora Give Me Some Lip Set

I have a few of the Too Faced Melted Liquid Lipsticks and most of them I really love, so getting another one is great. I don’t have Melted Chihuahua yet so this was a good one to get.

The other items in the set are brand new to me but things I have been hearing about and reading about for months. I have wanted to try the Lancome Juicy Shaker for a while now, since I am super curious about lip oils. I have heard a ton about Kat Von D Lovecraft and wanted to try the shade out for myself. It seems to be a favourite for a lot of people. I have also heard that the Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick is super long lasting and works like a charm. Spoiler alert – it’s true! This lippie lasts forever and it looks amazing!

Overall for $33 I got two deluxe minis that I have used and liked (or my Mom liked), two deluxe minis that I haven’t tried but am pretty sure I will enjoy, and two full size items that have been on my radar for a long time. The Smashbox lippie alone is $28, as is the Lancome Juicy Shaker, so to get them both full size in this set with all the other items made this totally worth it for me. The Sephora Give Me Some Lip Set is a great set to go into Fall with and I look forward to using all of the products.

Check back tomorrow for a swatch post! I wanted to talk about each shade individually so I saved the swatches for a separate post.
