25 Days of Beauty: The Next Five

Julep Blank Canvas Mattifying Primer

I recently posted about my first five products I picked for my own little beauty advent calendar for 25 Days of Beauty, and today I have the next five items. I already posted these on Instagram but this gives me a little more room to expand on the items and why I chose them. Let’s jump right into it!

Day 6) Julep Beauty Blank Canvas Mattifying Treatment Primer: I love how smooth and creamy this primer feels. It is super soft to apply and makes mys kin feel baby soft, and it keeps some of my shine away. It doesn’t get rid of it entirely, but it definitely helps the longevity of my makeup and keeping my T zone less shiny through the day and night.

Day 7) 7th Heaven Charcoal Peel-Off Face Mask: This mask helps to purify and detoxify skin, and I love the peel-off method. It leaves my skin feeling clear and refreshed.

Day 8) Too Faced Peach Perfect Comfort Matte Foundation: I absolutely love this foundation, for so many reasons! It has a great colour match for me (Sand) and has a lovely formula, matte finish, and yummy peachy scent. I really like this foundation and feel like it lasts for hours and hours while still looking good and controlling my shiny skin.

Day 9) China Glaze Nail Polish in shade Snow Globe: This one of my favourite holiday/Winter nail polishes to use. I love the iridescent flakes of glitter and it looks amazing over all kinds of colours. It lasts for such a long time without chips and is an easy way to amp up a holiday manicure for a more festive look.

The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Drops

Day 10) The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Drops (Darkening): These darkening drops have been so helpful to me when a foundation is slightly off. I use this with a few different formulas and it never seems to alter the foundation, and it really works to help adjust a shade to suit my skin depending on the season.

These five products have been stand-out items in my collections and I wanted to include them in my own beauty advent calendar for my 25 Days of Beauty. There seemed to be quite a few face products in this batch. Have you tried any of these items? Leave a comment and let me know!

Two Faves From The Body Shop Spa Of The World

Today I have two recent products from The Body Shop that I want to talk about. I have always really liked The Body Shop and love seeing all of the new skin care products they launch. Between the famous Body Butters, my go-to Tea Tree 3-in-1 Face Wash and Mask, or the delicious Satsuma scent, there are a lot of favourites from The Body Shop. I haven’t checked anything new in quite a while so I was really excited about the Spa Of The World Collection launch with a whole ton of new products. I am definitely behind on this as it has been out for a long time now, but these products have been what I’ve been reaching for all summer.

The Body Shop Spa Of The World African Ximenia Scrub

One of the products I want to talk about today is the The Body Shop Spa Of The World African Ximenia Scrub. This is a softening and exfoliating body scrub to be used after cleansing and then be rinsed off. I have used these types of scrubs before from other brands and there was something in them that seemed to be almost slimy and sticky, and it never quite seems to rinse off. I was worried about that when I first tried this one but luckily that wasn’t the case. This Spa of the World African Ximenia Scrub has a wonderful fresh and clean scent that reminds me of a classic bar of soap. The scrub is not too grainy and is mixed into a really smooth formula that reminds me of the Body Butters.

I use this on clean wet skin and give it a gentle scrub before rinsing off. My skin feels super soft and smooth and has no oily residue. I love this product for summer since a lot more skin is out and I find t great for a smoothing and exfoliating cleanse after a day at the beach. I use this on my arms, legs, and just about everywhere in between.

The other product I wanted to mention is The Body Shop Spa Of The World Hawaiian Kukui Cream. I found the scent of this to be very similar to the Shea Body Butter scent, and the formula was quite similar too. It has the same super smooth and nourishing feel of the classic Body Butters but this one feels a little bit thinner and lighter. I actually quite liked that, as sometimes I do find the Body Butters can be thick and tricky to really blend all over my skin. The Hawaiian Kukui Cream is lighter in texture but still ultra-moisturizing and has a really nice smell. I have been using this after the African Ximenia Scrub and I love the combination.

Something that I really love about The Body Shop is that instead of putting out gimmicky products or flash fads, they create high quality staple items. These two products remind me just how much I love The Body Shop for skin care basics and every day items that I continually use. Both of these Spa Of the World items have become summer staples for me over the past few months and I am really enjoying them.

Using Up My Beauty and Skincare Samples (#ProjectPan)

Good morning beauties! Today I have a bit of a different post for you. I have decided that I really need to start using up my beauty and skincare samples so I laid them all out and am taking a mini inventory! I realize that I have a ton of products that are just sitting in my sample section, waiting to be used.

Sure, samples are great for travelling – but what if I don’t have anywhere to go? Instead of keeping these forever and letting them wait around I have decided to start using them now.

I know some of these beauty and skincare samples are items I already have used and like, but many are brand new to me. I don’t think I would want to be trying a new face mask or skin cream on a trip anyways, since it could react badly to my skin and end up making it worse. I would rather do my experimenting at home. The few ones I know I like and will use can wait for a trip since they take less space for packing, but anything new or unknown to me has to be used up at home. So far the only ones that I feel confident to travel with are the Smashbox primers and Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I also think I could wing it with the mini Urban Decay Lipstick and Sephora eyeliner pencil since those are pretty generic and I can work with any shade.

Tons of beauty and skincare samples I am going to start using up!

These photos are what is left of my samples after a mini purge – I set aside a bunch of masks and skincare for my mom and best friend, and took out any foundations that were not my shade. Check out the long list below of all the beauty and skincare samples that I decided to keep.

I tried to organize in a top to bottom/left to right listing so it should be pretty simple to follow along!

  • Shiseido Shimmering Cream Eyecolor: Mist, Magnolia, and Purple Dawn
  • Make Up For Ever HD Blush: 410
  • Clarins Rouge Prodige Lipstick: Raspberry Sorbet, Coral Tulip, Red Prodige, and Redwood
  • Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner: Black Ink and Steel Ink
  • Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Moisturizing Lipstick: Red Door, Pretty Pink, and Neoclassic

Almost all of these are the samples I get from Sephora orders and some have been sitting around for nearly 6 months. A few items are from subscription boxes and they just snuck in here accidentally, since I usually keep those in separate sections.

I am really excited to start using these up and look forward to trying some new beauty and skincare items. This is kind of a mini start to a panning challenge or#projectpan as I always see on Instagram. I have no idea how long this will take me or if I will discover any new favourites, but I will be keeping you posted along the way! Wish me luck to start making some serious progress on these beauty and skincare samples!

The Body Shop Summer Tote

I recently ordered my usual face wash and a few skincare items from The Body Shop and I happened to see a promo on for a summer tote with some great products included for $30. In The Body Shop Summer Tote, which is a cute Canadian flag themed bag, I got 8 customer favourite items including a Body Butter and Body Sorbet. The value of the items is $128 and I paid $30 for the items and the cute bag, so I definitely got a deal. I also was going to purchase a Body Sorbet anyways since I just finished my mango one, so this seemed like a good way to get a new one and some other great products. The Body Sorbet alone would have been $16 so basically I bought that and paid and extra $14 for a ton of items.

What did I get?

The items included in The Body Shop Summer Tote are as follows:

  • Strawberry Shower Gel, 250ml
  • Shea Body Butter, 200ml
  • Satsuma Body Sorbet, 200ml
  • Satsuma Body Polish, 200ml
  • Hemp Hand Protector, 30ml
  • Vitamin E Moisture Cream, 50ml
  • Camomile Gentle Eye Makeup Remover, 250ml
  • Cream Bath Lily

Out of these items I know I like the Shower Gel, Body Butter, and Body Polish. I love the Satsuma scent so I was really happy about those items, and a Body Polish sounds like a good item for hot summer days. I am always looking for a good hand cream so the Hemp Hand Protector will be nice to try. I am not sure about the Moisturizer or Eye Makeup remover but I will give them a shot. I also love the current Bath Lily that I have so I don’t mind having an extra for when it comes time to replace mine.

Overall I think this was a good deal for some items I already know and love, and a few new things to try. At the end of the day I am already happy with 5 out of the 8 products right off the bat so that is a good deal for $30. The others I look forward to trying soon and will be sure to review. The Body Shop Summer Tote is an online exclusive so be sure to visit to grab one before they are gone!
