Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip Spring 2017

You must know by now how much I love the Sephora Favorites kits, specifically the lip kits. I have bought the last few that came out, and when I saw the newest one on the website I just could not resist it! This one is the Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip Spring 2017 set, and it includes some amazing brands, colours, and formulas. This one might actually be my favourite one out of all the lip kits I have, and I can’t wait to show you why!

In case you’re interested in them, the other lip kits I have include the following ones:

What lip products are in the Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip Spring 2017 Set?

Look at all of these lovely shades!

  • Deluxe Mini: Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss in Kristen (cool desert sand)
  • Deluxe Mini: Marc Jacobs Beauty’s Enamored Hi Shine Lip Lacquer in Sugar Sugar (champagne-gold shimmer)
  • Deluxe Mini: NARS Cosmetics Velvet Lip Glide in Bound (rose pink)
  • Deluxe Mini: Tarte Lippie Lingerie Matte Tint in Revealed (light mocha)
  • Deluxe Mini: Too Faced Lip Injection Glossy in Spice Girl (pink nude)
  • Full Size: Urban Decay Vice Waterproof Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Trivial (matte pink nude)

Now, the above colour descriptions come from the Sephora site but I actually think some of them are very different. The Tarte Lippie Lingerie is much deeper on me and more of a deep brick brown/mocha shade, not light at all. The Anastasia Beverly Hills gloss in Kristen is much more of a deep terracotta pink shade and the NARS Velvet Lip Glide is more like a mauve pink than rose.

I love all of the colours in this Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip Spring 2017 set. The Urban Decay shade is a beautiful medium pink hue that will be perfect for Spring and Summer. I was surprised by how much I liked the Too Faced Lip Injection shade since usually nude glosses don’t show up well on my tanned skin. The Tarte shade is beautiful but probably better suited for Fall.

All of these have amazing formulas and I am very impressed with these products. The Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick is phenomenal and to get a full size in such a pretty shade is amazing. The NARS and Tarte items are so smooth and feel amazing to wear, and the the Too Faced and ABH glosses are really nice as well. The Marc Jacobs gloss is a little sheer for my taste but it will be nice as a topper over another lip product.

Overall this kit is incredible and I really love every item in it. I have loved the other lip kits as well, but this Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip Spring 2017 set has such versatility and some incredible brands. I have never tried anything by Anastasia Beverly Hills before,so that was awesome to try that. I have never tried the NARS Velvet Lip Glide, Urban Decay Liquid Lipstick, or Tarte Lippie Lingerie so those were new formulas for me.

All in all, this set is my favourite of the Sephora Favorite kits I own. I love the wide range of brands, colours, and formulas. Although I definitely don’t consider it a set of 6 nude hues, they are all gorgeous lip products that I am thrilled to have in such an affordable set.

My Last Week of Lipstick: Volume 1

Since 2017 started I have been pushing myself to try more of my makeup and use different items that I own. I know I have some of my favourites (like the Sweet Peach palette and ColourPop lipsticks) but I wanted to branch out and give all my makeup some equal love. One of the ways I have been able to do that is by changing my lipstick every day. No matter how rushed I am I always make sure to grab a different lippie every morning.

This started as an accident almost but by the end of a week I noticed I had a bunch of different lipsticks in my purse, which I wore that week. Since I really enjoyed doing the 16 lipsticks I found in my purse post I decided to start posting about these as well.

So now here we are with my first week in review. I am including little notes on each item and have swatches as well!

Here are all the lipsticks I wore last week!

Using Up My Beauty and Skincare Samples (#ProjectPan)

Good morning beauties! Today I have a bit of a different post for you. I have decided that I really need to start using up my beauty and skincare samples so I laid them all out and am taking a mini inventory! I realize that I have a ton of products that are just sitting in my sample section, waiting to be used.

Sure, samples are great for travelling – but what if I don’t have anywhere to go? Instead of keeping these forever and letting them wait around I have decided to start using them now.

I know some of these beauty and skincare samples are items I already have used and like, but many are brand new to me. I don’t think I would want to be trying a new face mask or skin cream on a trip anyways, since it could react badly to my skin and end up making it worse. I would rather do my experimenting at home. The few ones I know I like and will use can wait for a trip since they take less space for packing, but anything new or unknown to me has to be used up at home. So far the only ones that I feel confident to travel with are the Smashbox primers and Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I also think I could wing it with the mini Urban Decay Lipstick and Sephora eyeliner pencil since those are pretty generic and I can work with any shade.

Tons of beauty and skincare samples I am going to start using up!

Tons of beauty and skincare samples I am going to start using up!

These photos are what is left of my samples after a mini purge – I set aside a bunch of masks and skincare for my mom and best friend, and took out any foundations that were not my shade. Check out the long list below of all the beauty and skincare samples that I decided to keep.

I tried to organize in a top to bottom/left to right listing so it should be pretty simple to follow along!

Beauty and Skincare Samples Pictured Above:

  • Philosophy Renewed Hope In A Jar Moisturizer
  • Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer (x4)
  • Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil Shampoo
  • Sephora Contour Eye Pencil: Suede Shoes
  • Clinique Superbalanced Silk Makeup Foundation: Silk Sable
  • Too Faced Born This Way Foundation: Sable and Light Beige
  • Caudalie Instant Detox Mask
  • Josie Maran Argan Enlightenment Illuminizer
  • Josie Maran Argan Liquid Gold Self-tanning Face Oil
  • Josie Maran Whipped Mud Mask: Vanilla Apricot
  • Urban Decay Vice Lipstick: Venom
  • Urban Decay Naked Skin Color Correcting Fluid: Peach and Green
  • Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer
  • Sephora 10HR Wear Perfection Foundation: Beige and Walnut
  • The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask
  • The Balm Meet Matt(e) Trimony Eyeshadow: Matt Kumar
  • Murad Instamatte Oil Control Mask

Beauty Samples Pictured Above:

  • Shiseido Shimmering Cream Eyecolor: Mist, Magnolia, and Purple Dawn
  • Make Up For Ever HD Blush: 410
  • Clarins Rouge Prodige Lipstick: Raspberry Sorbet, Coral Tulip, Red Prodige, and Redwood
  • Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner: Black Ink and Steel Ink
  • Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Moisturizing Lipstick: Red Door, Pretty Pink, and Neoclassic

Almost all of these are the samples I get from Sephora orders and some have been sitting around for nearly 6 months. A few items are from subscription boxes and they just snuck in here accidentally, since I usually keep those in separate sections.

I am really excited to start using these up and look forward to trying some new beauty and skincare items. This is kind of a mini start to a panning challenge or#projectpan as I always see on Instagram. I have no idea how long this will take me or if I will discover any new favourites, but I will be keeping you posted along the way! Wish me luck to start making some serious progress on these beauty and skincare samples!

Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip 2017

As you may know by now, I really like the Sephora Favorites Lip sets. I have the Give Me Some Bold Lip, Give Me Some Lip and Liner, and the Give Me Some Lip set from 2016. I really have enjoyed all of these sets and love getting to try multiple brands and lip products for one price. Today I will be showing you the Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip 2017 set, which just came out a few days ago.

Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip set

Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Nude Lip set

As usual this set comes with a mix of full size and deluxe mini size products. This time around the full size items were an Urban Decay Vice lipstick and an Estee Edit Lip Liner. Both items were very intriguing to me, and made this set worth the price tag. For $33 Canadian I got two full size and four deluxe mini lip items, and the full size ones alone are worth $21 and $24 respectively, so they make the set worth it.

Let’s take a look at what comes in the Give Me Some Nude Lip set!

Urban Decay Deluxe Shadow Box

Today I have a really old eye shadow palette to show you. This is the Urban Decay Deluxe Shadow Box, which was originally released way back in the day. Quite a few years ago.  I don’t remember when I bought it, but I know I got it on sale at Sephora and it was one of the very first Urban Decay products I ever bought. Another old Urban Decay palette that I love is the Urban Decay Smoked palette, which I reviewed here.

Urban Decay Deluxe Shadow Box

Urban Decay Deluxe Shadow Box

The Urban Decay Deluxe Shadow Box is full of 9 incredible shadows that have such a silky feel. The formula on these is incredible, even after how long I have had it, and the pigment on all of the shades is so nice. There are 3 neutral hues and 6 bold colours in this cute little box, and it came with two little eye shadow sponges and a mini Urban Decay Primer Potion. I have long since used up the primer, but the shadows have been taking a back seat for the last few months/years.

The Urban Decay Deluxe Shadow Box

The Urban Decay Deluxe Shadow Box

The Urban Decay Deluxe Shadow Box is by far the most unique and bright palette I own. The 6 bold shades are the most different from my normal makeup collection. The variety of original shades in this palette are super colourful and the only real neon shades I own in my entire makeup collection.

Read on for details on each eye shadow and more photos, including swatches!

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Deluxe Sampler

Today I am showing you the Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Deluxe Sampler that includes 24 of the new UD Vice lipstick shades. I got this as a promo with my recent Sephora order, and have seen a lot of people complaining it was out of stock and hard to get, so I guess I got lucky that day.

The Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Sampler

The Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Deluxe Sampler

I have to start by saying that this was THE hardest beauty item I have ever tried to photograph. In multiple years of writing for other blogs, working at beauty magazines, and everything I have done, this was absolutely the most difficult post to take photos for. My camera was going crazy with all the different colours and trying to catch the correct lighting without reflecting off the little plastic bubbles. I was going crazy trying to get accurate photos. I finally got some acceptable ones, but keep in mind that this was so tough to get the right colours so be sure to check the Urban Decay website for further info on the shades of these lipsticks.

Before we get to the lipsticks – if anyone has any photography tips on how to get these super tricky lighting/colour/reflection problems under control I would totally love to hear them!

Check out the 24 shades in the Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Deluxe Sampler

The UD Vice lippies come in a wide range of colours (100 shades to be exact) and a bunch of different finishes. From metallic to matte, cream to sheer, and everything in between you are sure to find a shade or two that suits your preferences for any occasion. In this Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Deluxe Sampler I got 24 shades in a variety of finishes, organized into this cute little folded book. They are sort of sorted by shade family, with a page of 8 bold hues like pink and purple, a page of 8 vampy and red colours, and then 8 classic and neutral hues. I like the sorting in the book and it makes it super easy to pick one depending on mood or occasion.

Sephora Birthday Haul ft. Urban Decay

In honour of my own birthday this weekend, I decided to buy myself a few beauty presents. I have seen the Sephora Marc Jacobs birthday gift and was super excited about it, but since there isn’t a store in my town I decided to shop online. I have been adding things in and out of my cart over the last month or so but never made an order, so I finally decided to treat myself and place an order. There are so many great deals at Sephora lately and even though I have been eyeing things like the Gwen Stefani Urban Decay palette (on sale!) and considering another Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette, I ended up getting a combo of some other great items for my Sephora birthday haul.

Everything I bought in my Sephora birthday haul

Quick Look: Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette

You may have seen my post a few weeks ago about my awesome Shopper’s Optimum Points haul, where I got a ton of makeup including the iconic Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette for free. I had a ton of Optimum points and used them to redeem over $100 of free beauty products and only had to pay the tax of a mere $17. It was the deal of a century and I am still so thrilled that I got the Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette for such a low price.

Since getting the gorgeous palette a few weeks ago I have admired it almost every day but was too scared to actually touch it. Its so beautiful and perfect and I was hesitant to mess it up. This week I finally took the plunge and played around with this stunning eye shadow set and I couldn’t be happier.

I have had my Urban Decay Smoked palette for a few years, which I wrote about here, and I absolutely love it, so I had some high expectations for the Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette. I know it gets a lot of great reviews and the whole line of Naked palettes are iconic in the beauty world, so going into this I had some high standards set in my head. Spoiler alert: the Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette totally delivered!

Urban Decay Smoked Palette Swatches and Review

The other day I rediscovered one of my old favourite eye shadow palettes. The Urban Decay Smoked Palette was one of the very first ones I purchased and I fell in love with it immediately. The colours are amazing and it has so many great shadows for smoky looks and dramatic looks.

Most of the shadows in the Urban Decay Smoked palette are pretty smooth and buttery to apply, but a few are a little drier than others. In this palette there are matte shadows and shimmer ones and I liked having the matte ones there to balance out the bolder shades. The matte ones are much chalkier than the shimmery shadows and I had a little more difficulty blending those ones.

The top row of this palette is as follows:

Top row swatches of the Urban Decay Smoked Palette

Top row swatches of the Urban Decay Smoked Palette from L-R: Kinky, Freestyle, Mushroom, Backdoor, Blackout

  • Kinky: Matte ivory shadow, a little chalky to apply but great for base and highlight. It looks white in my photos but it has a more ivory beige tone in real life.
  • Freestyle: Matte beige shadow, less chalky than Kinky and great smoothness to apply.
  • Mushroom: Shimmery greige shadow that is one of the drier shimmer shades but still applies nicely.
  • Backdoor: Dark brown matte with a hint of charcoal to it. It looks darker in the swatch than it does in the pan.
  • Blackout: Deep black matte that applies smoothly and had a great soft texture for a matte shadow.

The bottom row of this palette includes the following:

  • Barlust: Shimmery brown shadow with golden red hints. This one reminds me a little bit of the red shade of the MAC Club duochrome shadow.
  • Rockstar: Dark purple shimmer that runs just on the line of plum. This one applied amazingly and was super smooth.
  • Evidence: Medium navy blue shimmer shadow that was the most dry of the shimmer ones. Once you get it on it looks great but it was the most difficult shimmer shadow to apply out of the bunch.
  • Loaded: Dark green shimmer that has a slight black hint. It is very dark in the swatch but it had a great shimmer and the green really does show up nicely.
  • Asphalt: Dark grey shimmer that is super buttery to apply. The shimmer on this one is lovely and it really picks up nicely in the right lighting.

In general the variety of shadows is great and I love the pops of colour, especially Rockstar, Evidence, and Loaded. This palette also comes with a little lookbook with how-to’s for quite a few different smoky eye looks. I like the different styles in the book and it has everything from a classic smoky eye to a super colourful bright ones.

This is the palette I always take with me on weekend getaways or when I travel since I know I can get a wide range of looks with just a small palette. It has a zipper closure that makes it even better to travel with and it comes with the classic Perversion eyeliner so I have all the basics in one case. The Urban Decay Smoked palette has a lot of options for both beginner and advance smoky eyes and is a great staple for any makeup collection.
