My second April 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag (Profile Comparison Experiment)

This month I decided to try out a second April 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag just to see how similar or different they would end up being. I answered the profile almost the same as my original bag, and let the Ipsy gods give me what they wish. I actually ended up with a bag that I really love. I was super excited about 4 out of the 5 items in this bag, and am really pleased with this bag overall.

The April 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag that I got with my original account and profile was not as successful, as I only really liked 3 of the 5 items. This new experimental profile ended up giving me a much more tailored bag somehow.

Let’s see what I got in my second April 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag!

OFRA Cosmetics Blush in shade Rendezvous
This is my first ever OFRA Cosmetics product and I have been so excited about it. It is a very deep peachy shade that looks a lot darker in the pan than it is in the swatch. It is completely matte which is different for me, as I only have shimmery blushes. I really like this blush a lot.

Tarte Cosmetics Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint in shade Delish
When I saw this was included in my bag spoilers I was beyond thrilled. I absolutely loved the one I got in my last bag (in the brick red shade Vibin) and was so happy to get another colour. Delish is a medium nude hue and has the same smooth and light formula as the other one I have. It dries down way deeper on my skin than it looked in the tube.

Side note: I really don’t think I would have gotten this item in my other bag because I already had one last month. I am so glad I decided to do my experiment this month!

Elizabeth Mott Show Me Your Glow Shimmer Shadow & Highlighter
I was also excited for this product since I like to try out highlighters but I never purchase them myself. This is a smooth shimmery powder with a nice light pale gold hue. I can be used as shadow or highlight and I will definitely be trying it out as both options.

Theorie Marula Oil Transforming Hair Serum
This could not have come at a better time! I was just looking at all my split ends and problems with my hair, and planning to add some light highlights this weekend, so a hair serum is the perfect item to help nourish my locks. This serum is safe for colour treated hair so it will be the first thing I use after I do my highlights!

Dream by PS Cosmeceutical Infused Nail Lacquer in shade Southern Sand
Normally I pass on the Ipsy polishes I get in my bags and give them away to friends and family, but this one I may have to try. I like the colour of it and it seems like a perfect fresh light nude shade for Spring and Summer.

Overall with this second April 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag I am very happy with the OFRA blush, Tarte liquid lipstick, Elizabeth Mott shadow/highlighter. I am definitely going to be using the Theorie hair serum as well, and I like the nude shade of the nail polish.

This bag was a big hit, and I have to admit it was a lot better than my original April bag.

My Travel Beauty Bag: What I took on my weekend getaway

Happy Monday! Instead of being at work today I am off on a mini getaway with my BF. We like to take small 2 or 3 day trips just to have an adventure and do something special, so we left yesterday for a let weekend getaway. Of course I had to bring a variety of outfits and makeup for all our activities, so I thought I would share what I like to pack in my travel beauty bag for a weekend getaway!

Since I knew there would be a mix of indoor and outdoor activities (including fancy dinners and mini golf!) I had to pack versatile items that could work for all occasions. I love my double-duty products that save space and work for multiple uses.

A look at what beauty products I take in my travel beauty bag!

My October Ipsy Glam Bag

I am a little late in the month but today I have my October Ipsy Glam Bag to show you. As with previous glam bags I have gotten, I do like some items and others I am not in  love with. I think I need to review the items I get so I can tweak my future bags.

This month the actual bag is a really cute Halloween theme bag. It is pale pink with little black designs on it that are really festive and cute. I typically don’t like Halloween but this is cute enough that even I love the look of the bag!

Read on to see what I think of the items in my bag!

First Look: Too Faced Grande Hotel Cafe

This is probably the one blog post I have been most excited about since the day I started this blog. I am so happy that I got the Too Faced Grande Hotel Cafe Holiday Set and I have no idea if it was by fluke or not, but I got it so quickly! I have had my eye on this for ages, ever since the very first sneak peak I saw online. This is a set of three holiday scented palettes with an adorable theme and some seriously pretty shimmer and matte eye shadows, as well as two blushes and a bronzer, and a mini Better Than Sex Mascara. I have drooled over photos online for weeks now and to finally have it in my hands is such an exciting thing!

The Too Faced Grande Hotel Cafe holiday set

I was so anxious about the release of this because I didn’t know when Sephora would launch it online, and the day Too Faced launched it I wasn’t sure if I should buy it. I checked Sephora.ca about a hundred times that day and decided it was probably not going to launch, and that I would wait until the rumored October release. And then suddenly around 7:30pm I checked completely randomly and there it was. I snatched it up so fast and am so happy I did because within an hour it was offline again. I swear it was an accident that it got put up online but I am beyond happy that I managed to get the Too Faced Grande Hotel Cafe set that day. Oh yeah – somehow my shipping only took two days so that was even better!

Julep Maven August Box

Last month I skipped my Julep Maven box because I wasn’t super interested in the products, but this month I got back into it. I chose all of the items in my Julep Maven August box, and am really pleased with it. I chose two holographic polishes and another one of the Skip The Brush Stick in the shade Passionfruit.

The two holographic nail polishes I chose for my Julep Maven August box are Zori, a pale pink holographic shade, and Stephanie, a bright cherry red holographic glitter. I don’t have any holo polishes in these colours so I was really excited to get these. Zori is much more holographic than Stephanie, but in the right lights Stephanie can really shine too.

Look at the stunning holo shade Zori! It’s so pretty and has such a beautiful rainbow of colour going through it. Stephanie has more subtle holo flecks but they show up a little stronger in real life. Holo is super hard to capture on camera!

I specifically chose another Skip The Brush Creme to Powder Blush Stick because I really like the one I got in my June Julep Maven box, which you can check out here. I chose the shade Passionfruit because it would be a good blush hue for my tanned skin. Passionfruit is a warm deep berry shade with flecks of shimmer throughout it. In the swatch below it is just a plain swipe of product on the left and blended out on the right.

Overall I am quite pleased with my Julep Maven August box. 2 great holographic nail polish colours and a cream to powder blush stick will be perfect to help me finish off the summer.

Julep Maven June 2016 box review

Another new month, another Julep Maven box! June has just begun and I have been really loving the hot weather we have gotten lately. I have also been loving my Julep Maven boxes since I started getting them back in April, and today I have the Julep Maven June 2016 box to show you. In this one I got two nail polishes and a Skip The Brush cream to powder blush stick.

My Julep Maven June 2016 box

My Julep Maven June 2016 box

I personally prefer to choose what items I get in my Julep boxes, as opposed to picking one of the pre-made Julep Maven June 2016 box selections. The selections are nice and I would be happy to get them, but I always like picking each item out myself. Sometimes I am feeling more nail polish and sometimes I like the beauty products. This month I was really interested in the Skip The Brush cream to powder blush, but I wasn’t sure the shades in the pre-selected box would suit me, so I made sure to pick that out in a shade that would work with my skin tone. I also chose two pretty polishes that were different than what I have been wearing recently.
