Sephora Favorites LashStash To Go

As you may know from my recent posts I am a huge fan of the Sephora Favorites Lip Kits. I love that these sets that let you sample different brands and formulas, and I always enjoy checking out the different products. I have quite a few of the Lip Kits, but have never tried the mascara set that Sephora is known for. The Sephora Favorites LashStash To Go Kit is a set of five deluxe mini mascaras from some high-end brands, and it includes a voucher for a full size mascara of your choice.

The Sephora Favorites LashStash To Go Kit

The Sephora Favorites LashStash To Go Kit

I think this is an awesome deal for $33 Canadian. I get to sample five fancy mascaras that I normally would never try, and then I get to pick which of the five that I want to redeem the voucher for. With this kit you end up getting 5 deluxe minis and one full size for an affordable price. The full size options you can redeem for are between $25-$35 each anyways so it is a great value to sample the other ones (and still use the minis) as well as redeem the voucher.

What mascaras are included in the Sephora Favorites LashStash To Go Kit?

  • Bobbi Brown Eye Opening Mascara in Black (deluxe mini) — full size $35
  • Buxom Lash Mascara in Blackest Black (deluxe mini) — full size $25
  • Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara in Excessive Black (deluxe mini) — full size $34
  • Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes, 4 in 1 Mascara in Black (deluxe mini) — full size $27
  • Urban Decay Perversion Mascara in Black (deluxe mini) — full size $27
  • Voucher for full size of one of the above mascaras

I want to take my time analyzing the mascaras in the Sephora LashStash To Go Kit so I don’t have reviews for you just yet. I am working on them one at a time to try them out with and without a lash curler, and see how they look and how they last. I have never tried any of the mascaras included in the kit so they are all brand new to me. I have always wondered if a $30 mascara is really that much better than my usual drugstore picks, so I am very excited to try these brands.

Once I have had enough time to try out and compare all five of the mascaras I will be posting a full review on each, with before/after mascara photos of every one.

If you have tried any of these mascaras in the Sephora LashStash To Go Kit I would love to hear your thoughts so please let me know in the comments!

Julep If Looks Could Thrill Eyeliner Trio

I have been super into glitter lately and while I can’t wear it all over on a regular work day, I can find little ways to sneak it into my look. Glitter liner is a great option for this so I set off in search of some liners that would be sparkly but still simple.  I ended up finding the Julep If Looks Could Thrill Liquid Chameleon Eyeliner Trio and I happened to have a Julep code, so I got this set for an awesome deal.

The Julep If Looks Could Thrill Chameleon Liquid Eyeliner Trio

The Julep If Looks Could Thrill Liquid Chameleon Eyeliner Trio

This set has three liquid eyeliners that are meant to glide on smoothly and dry quickly for a smudge-free look. They are called Chameleon Eyeliners because they are a black based formula with pearl pigments infused to show different colours in the light. The three shades are Black & Silver Chameleon, Black & Gold Chameleon, and Black & Violet Chameleon.

I like that the Julep If Looks Could Thrill liner trio is less glitter and more sparkle. The liners don’t have chunky flakes of glitter but rather have the sparkly pigments blended in. The black blase stays in tact so they are full coverage and not patchy glittery spots. You can see the smooth coverage in my swatch photos below.

The chameleon effect seems to be the reflective colour changes in different lighting. In my swatches I have shown them in different angles, where you can see they appear less or more sparkly depending on the view. Sometimes the shades look pretty muted – just a basic liner with a hint of colour and hint of shimmer – but other lighting shows the full sparkle power. I really like this effect and especially like it with the Black & Silver Chameleon shade, which skews to a teal/blue hue in some lights.

I really like the Julep If Looks Could Thrill Eyeliner Trio and love the pop of sparkle that they provide. Nothing too wild or festival-looking, but definitely different than a basic black liner look. This trio was a great deal for me and is on sale on the Julep site now for $20 so check it out if you are looking for a way to amp up your black liner looks.

Tarte Tarteist Treats set from Sephora

This is my very first Tarte palette and my whole beauty world is changed. I completely see why everyone adores the Tarte palettes! I just got the Tarte Tarteist Treats Set from Sephora and it includes the Tarte Pro To Go palette, a deluxe mini Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint, and deluxe mini Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara.

The Tarte Tarteist Treats Set from Sephora

The Tarte Tarteist Treats Set from Sephora

This set was $33 Canadian, and the Tarte Pro to Go Palette alone is $30, so I got the mini mascara and lip paint for only $3. Plus I had a Sephora gift card so I got this trio for an awesome deal. I have been dying to try Tarte eyeshadow because everyone raves about it and the palettes are so popular. I can totally see why now, and after using the Tarte Pro to Go palette I am completely sold!

The Tarte Pro to Go palette is my favourite item of the three included in the Tarte Tarteist Treats Set. This palette is small but it packs a shimmery punch. There are six shades, with three being matte and the other three shimmer.

I am blown away by the shimmer shades. They are super intensely pigmented with an amazing shimmer that makes them look almost like liquid metal. I love all three of them. I also really like the matte shades, which are also quite smooth and buttery, although I found Drive to be the driest of them all. Overall the six eyeshadows in this palette have an incredible formula and very strongly pigmented colours. I am so impressed!

The min Lip Paint is another item I really like, and since I just raved about the Matte Lip Paint called Vibin that I got in my Ipsy bag, it was great to try out the glossy alternative. The shade included in the Tarte Tarteist Treats Set is called WCW and is a lovely berry hue. I always love berry shades on my skin tone and this is no exception. It has a nice light formula and does not feel sticky. It seems more creamy than glossy to me, which I actually like. It has a sleek and shiny glossy look but not a super wet glossy look.

As for the mascara, the Tarteist Lash Paint mascara, this is one of Tarte’s top mascaras. I have yet to try it since I have a few other open mascaras at the moment, but I really look forward to checking it out and reviewing it later on.

Overall I think the Tarte Tarteist Treats Set was an awesome deal and totally worth it. I am already in love with the Tarte eyeshadow formula and shimmer shades in the Pro to Go palette, and the WCW Lip Paint is beautiful. If you are looking for a way to get into Tarte and try out a few products this set is a great choice!

My second April 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag (Profile Comparison Experiment)

This month I decided to try out a second April 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag just to see how similar or different they would end up being. I answered the profile almost the same as my original bag, and let the Ipsy gods give me what they wish. I actually ended up with a bag that I really love. I was super excited about 4 out of the 5 items in this bag, and am really pleased with this bag overall.

The April 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag that I got with my original account and profile was not as successful, as I only really liked 3 of the 5 items. This new experimental profile ended up giving me a much more tailored bag somehow.

My second April 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag

My second April 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag

Let’s see what I got in my second April 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag!

OFRA Cosmetics Blush in shade Rendezvous
This is my first ever OFRA Cosmetics product and I have been so excited about it. It is a very deep peachy shade that looks a lot darker in the pan than it is in the swatch. It is completely matte which is different for me, as I only have shimmery blushes. I really like this blush a lot.

Tarte Cosmetics Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint in shade Delish
When I saw this was included in my bag spoilers I was beyond thrilled. I absolutely loved the one I got in my last bag (in the brick red shade Vibin) and was so happy to get another colour. Delish is a medium nude hue and has the same smooth and light formula as the other one I have. It dries down way deeper on my skin than it looked in the tube.

Side note: I really don’t think I would have gotten this item in my other bag because I already had one last month. I am so glad I decided to do my experiment this month!

Elizabeth Mott Show Me Your Glow Shimmer Shadow & Highlighter
I was also excited for this product since I like to try out highlighters but I never purchase them myself. This is a smooth shimmery powder with a nice light pale gold hue. I can be used as shadow or highlight and I will definitely be trying it out as both options.

Swacthes of the Tarte Lip Paint in Delish, OFRA Blush in Rendezvous, and Elizabeth Mott Shimmer Shadow & Highlight

Theorie Marula Oil Transforming Hair Serum
This could not have come at a better time! I was just looking at all my split ends and problems with my hair, and planning to add some light highlights this weekend, so a hair serum is the perfect item to help nourish my locks. This serum is safe for colour treated hair so it will be the first thing I use after I do my highlights!

Dream by PS Cosmeceutical Infused Nail Lacquer in shade Southern Sand
Normally I pass on the Ipsy polishes I get in my bags and give them away to friends and family, but this one I may have to try. I like the colour of it and it seems like a perfect fresh light nude shade for Spring and Summer.

OFRA Rendezvous Blush, Theorie Marula Oil, and Elizabeth Mott Shimmer & Shadow Highlighter from my second April 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag

Overall with this second April 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag I am very happy with the OFRA blush, Tarte liquid lipstick, Elizabeth Mott shadow/highlighter. I am definitely going to be using the Theorie hair serum as well, and I like the nude shade of the nail polish.

This bag was a big hit, and I have to admit it was a lot better than my original April bag.

April 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag Review

It’s that time again – subscription boxes are arriving in my mailbox and it feels like Christmas. Today I have my usual April 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag unboxing and review. The theme this month was Side Show, which seemed to have a circus-like style. The bag itself fit that theme with the ticket design and is actually pretty cute.

The bag is a bright coral colour with lavender writing and the date April 1, 2017  backwards as the barcode numbers on the side. I like the idea and it is a cute colour for Spring.

My April 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag

My April 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag

What did I get in my April 2017 Ipsy Glam Bag?

Defy & Inspire Wear Resistant Nail Lacquer in shade Paradise Island
This is a lovely bright and light turquoise shade and it is meant to be a long-lasting formula that will resist chips. I normally don’t like the one-off polishes in Ipsy bags because it looks weird being a single brand in my collection, but this shade is really nice. I might give it a shot one day and then pass it along to a friend who will use it more often.

Skin&Co Roma Truffle Therapy Face Toner
I am always a little unsure of skincare items in subscription bags because I never know how I will react to it or if it will irritate my face. This toner is meant to brighten skin, remove bacteria and dead skin, and make pores look smaller. I can’t tell if I will try it yet since I just started a new skincare routine and don’t want to mess with it, but maybe in the future I can check this out.

Ciate London Mini Bamboo Bronzer in shade Palm Island
This bronzer has oil-controlling ingredients and looks like a lovely shade to get a little glow. It has neutral undertones so it won’t make you look orange. I look forward to using this for a bit of a faux glow this season.

Jesse’s Girl Liquid Eyeliner in Black
I am not skilled at winged liner by any means but I am always up to try it again. This liquid liner has a super skinny tip and jet black formula that is meant to stay in place all day. I never buy myself liquid liner so although this may not be the most exciting Ipsy item ever, it is something I will be trying to use.

Tony Moly Liptome LipCare Stick in shade Rose Blossom
Tony Moly is a brand I have been hearing so much about lately! I have been really curious about it and I absolutely love lip balms, so this is super exciting to me. This is a chic looking lip balm that has lots of hydrating oils to keep my lips soft, smooth, and silky. It feels awesome and it smells so fresh and rosy – just like the Benefit Benetint scent.

Tony Moly Lip Balm and Ciate London Bamboo Bronzer

Tony Moly Lip Balm and Ciate London Bamboo Bronzer

Overall I am thrilled with the Tony Moly lip balm and will definitely be using the liquid eyeliner and the bronzer. I am not super into the nail polish and am unsure about the facial toner this month. 3 out of 5 isn’t too bag though so I still think my Ipsy bag was a hit this month, but it wasn’t a total hit like it has been in February and March.

Did you get a Glam Bag this month? Let me know what products you are trying!

Drugstore Fave! Essence Lash Princess False Effect Mascara

A long time ago I posted about my first Essence Cosmetics mascara – the Lash Princess Volume Mascara – and I absolutely loved it. It was $5 at the drugstore and performed amazingly well. I was blown away by the product and decided to try out a very similar item when I recently finished my mascara. This time I went with the sister mascara – the Essence Lash Princess False Effect Mascara. This is also only $5 and has the same cute corset design that drew me to the first one.

Essence Cosmetics Lash Princess False Effect Mascara

Essence Cosmetics Lash Princess False Effect Mascara

Essentially the two mascaras look like twins. One has orange text and design and the other has light green. They look so similar on the outside so I was super curious to see if they performed the same. I did notice one huge difference between these two mascaras. The brushes are totally different with the Essence Lash Princess Volume version being curved and the Essence Lash Princess False Effect mascara having a straight brush.

In terms of formula and application I find that the Essence Lash Princess False Effect Mascara is pretty foolproof. It has a smooth formula that glides onto lashes and it isn’t to watery or too thick. The colour is a perfect crisp black and I only need one coat to get great results. It doesn’t smudge or flake at all (at least on me) and it wears well all day long.

In order to show you the true impact of the mascara I did not curl my lashes so what you see in the photo is just the mascara on my bare lashes. You can see in the before shot that my bare lashes are nearly non-existent, so all of the length, definition, and volume comes from the mascara.

The results of this super affordable drugstore mascara are almost identical to the results I got with the twin product. The Essence Lash Princess False Effect mascara does not give very different lashes than the Lash Princess Volume version, but the results are still amazing. For under $5 I am thrilled with how long and full my eyelashes look. I can swipe on one coat of this mascara and look wide-awake and bright eyed in no time.

I do have to note that the CoverGirl Plumpify Blast Pro mascara gave me slightly more in terms of length and separation, but it is almost double the price of the Essence options. The difference is quite small so for the bug price drop and ease of application I think I will stick with the Essence Lash Princess False Effect mascara for now.

Do you have any other recommendations for a great drugstore mascara? I’d love to hear them so be sure to let me know in the comments!

March Beauty Favourites

Today I want to show you a few of my favourite products from the month of March. These are the items I have been using most often over the last few weeks and a few things I’ve recently added to my collection or rediscovered in my collection. Check out my March beauty favourites below!

My March beauty favourites

My March beauty favourites

Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Skin Transforming Powder: I’ve been on the hunt for a foundation that I really like and have had such a hard time finding one. After almost a month of trying different ones and not getting the results I want I ended up going back to this Maybelline powder and I’m so happy with it. I started using this a while ago and posted all about it. I really love it because it’s the perfect colour match, it feels great to wear, it’s light, and it has salicylic acid. I may keep searching for that perfect foundation but in the meantime I love that I have this favourite to fall back on.

Quo Matte Bronzer in Light Tan: This is a new favourite but ever since I got it a few weeks ago I have been using it almost every day. I love the light formula the matte finish in the shade is perfect for a slight warmth I can add to my face. You can see my original post on it here.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal: I got this famous highlighter a long time ago in a Sephora Favorites box and I liked it at the time but never really reached for it. A few weeks ago I decided to grab it again and it quickly became one of my March beauty favorites. I love the glow it adds to my skin and it really is noticeable even though it’s subtle. I don’t know if that makes sense but it seems like such a small item to add to my routine in the morning but throughout the day when I catch myself in the mirror I love the shimmer it delivers. On a regular day with my basic work makeup, or on a night out with a more glam look, using this Becca highlighter really adds something special. Even my boyfriend notices when I wear it because he says I look “extra glowy“.

Swatches of some of my March beauty favourites from L-R: Tarte Lip Paint, Ciate London Liquid Velvet, Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector, and ColourPop Super Shock Shadow

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in Un: This is the shade that I got quite a while back and I loved it when I first got it but it kind of fell to the side. Recently I wanted a slight shimmery wash of shadow for an every day look and this is what I chose. Since then I have been wearing it multiple times per week as a single shadow across my lids to brighten my eyes. It takes almost no time or effort to apply but it really makes a difference to wear ColourPop Un on my lids instead of no shadow at all. This is a great single shadow to throw on quickly and I’ve been loving this as one of my March beauty favourites.

Tarte Tartiest Lip Paint in Vibin: I just got this in my March Ipsy bag and have been absolutely loving it ever cents. I’ve worn it multiple times and I love the light formula, I love the brick red colour, and I love how it feels like I’m wearing nothing even though I have a bold lip shade on. This Tarte Lip paint has quickly become one of my favourite liquid lipsticks that I own, and considering how many I have that is a big deal!

Ciate London Liquid Velvet in Pin Up: This is another liquid lipstick but I’ve been really love it it’s a lighter shade and almost MLBB but more pink. Just like the Tarte one this has a great formula and feels super light to wear. I get so many compliments on this colour as an every day lip look. I got this from an older Ipsy Bag but only recently reached for it.

Another swatch photo from L-R: Tarte Vibin, Ciate London Pin Up, Becca Opal, and ColourPop Un

Another swatch photo from L-R: Tarte Vibin, Ciate London Pin Up, Becca Opal, and ColourPop Un

Overall these six products are my March beauty favourites and I have been reaching for them very often this past month. I like that some of them are newer items and some are older ones I rediscovered in my stash. I love coming back to an old favourite or something that I haven’t used in a while and many of these are great examples of that.

I will definitely be continuing to use these going forward but at the same time I am looking forward to seeing what other products I will be reaching for during the month of April!

All of my single eyeshadow swatches from MAC, ColourPop, Makeup Geek and more!

This is a project I have been wanting to do for ages. I have pictured it and daydreamed about it and planned for it but never actually managed to get it done until now. I finally have put all of my single eyeshadows into a palette and am thrilled with the result. Today I have 20 single eyeshadow swatches to show you, and my beautiful custom palette with all my pretty singles in it!

All 20 of my single eyeshadows organized into a custom palette

All 20 of my single eyeshadows organized into a custom palette

These single shadows come from a variety of brands including ColourPop, Makeup Geek, Sephora brand, and MAC. I had a few in smaller palettes, such as MAC quads and a recent ColourPop quad, but I have always wanted them to be all together so I could use them more often. I finally bought a medium sized Make Up For Ever metal palette from Sephora and organized all of the single eyeshadows.

My Travel Beauty Bag: What I took on my weekend getaway

Happy Monday! Instead of being at work today I am off on a mini getaway with my BF. We like to take small 2 or 3 day trips just to have an adventure and do something special, so we left yesterday for a let weekend getaway. Of course I had to bring a variety of outfits and makeup for all our activities, so I thought I would share what I like to pack in my travel beauty bag for a weekend getaway!

Since I knew there would be a mix of indoor and outdoor activities (including fancy dinners and mini golf!) I had to pack versatile items that could work for all occasions. I love my double-duty products that save space and work for multiple uses.

A look at what beauty products I take in my travel beauty bag!

March Ipsy Glam Bag

Good morning and happy Wednesday! Today I have my March Ipsy Glam Bag to talk about. I love this bag and and really thrilled with most of the items in it – and a little creeped out by one item! I love the bag design this month and am very pleased with my Ipsy subscription lately. Have you seen my February bag? That one was also full of great products!

The bag itself is larger than the normal Ipsy bag and I love the bigger size. The others seem more like a small and flat pencil case, where as this one looks more like a clutch. The bag is a lovely soft pink with a rose gold zipper, and one side is plain velvety fabric while the reverse side has neat mesh-like netting. I think this is really cute and I will actually use this as a little clutch. I think this is the first bag I can really use in all of my months of Ipsy!

What I got in my March Ipsy Glam Bag!

What I got in my March Ipsy Glam Bag!

So what did I get in my March Ipsy Glam Bag?

The five items in my bag this month are the following:

Marc Anthony True Professional Deep Repair Aloe Vera & Jasmine Oil Deep Repairing Conditioning Treatment: I have been eyeing my split ends and frizzy hair for a few weeks now so this came at a perfect time. I can’t wait to try it out and it is a really good size for a sample bag!

Tarte Cosmetics Tarteist™ Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint in Vibin’: I was so excited when I saw this in my March Ipsy Glam Bag preview, and when it arrived it was even better than expected. Vibin’ is a lovely brick red hue and the formula of this lip paint in awesome. It is super light and smooth, and it dries so quickly. It feels light to wear and has an awesome colour, and lasted for such a long time with no smudging at all.

Eyeko Fat Eye Stick in Satin: This eye crayon is a smooth and creamy formula that has a nice sheen to it. I like this a lot and it was really nice to apply. It went on semi-sheer at first but I was able to build it up for an awesome colour. The shade is a metallic grey silver and I am really looking forward to doing a smoky eye with this crayon!

Swatches of the Eyeko Fat Eye Stick in Satin (top) and the Tarte Tartiest Lip Paint in Vibin' (bottom)

Swatches of the Eyeko Fat Eye Stick in Satin (top) and the Tarte Tartiest Lip Paint in Vibin’ (bottom)

Beau Gâchis Tapered Blending Brush: I love getting brushes in subscription boxes because I need to build my collection without breaking the bank. This brush is soft and fluffy and has a nice tapered shape.

Ladykin Affinitic Snail Cream: This is the one item that creeps me out a little! This is a face cream that uses snail secretion as an ingredient to help heal damaged skin and improve your complexion. This is a Korean beauty brand and is something many people swear by, so hopefully I can get enough guts to go ahead and try this out.

So there we have it, my March Ipsy Glam Bag full of some great items this month!

I’d love to hear from you guys – would you use snail cream on your face? Leave me a comment and let me know!
