7th Heaven Strengthen Nail & Cuticle Finger Masques

7th Heaven Strengthen Nail & Cuticle Finger Masques

7th Heaven Strengthen Nail & Cuticle Finger Masques

Have you ever heard of finger masks?! I love face masks, and have been really into hair masks as well, but I have never tried a finger mask until this past weekend. To be honest I didn’t even know that finger masks existed, until I got the chance to try out the 7th Heaven Strengthen Nail & Cuticle Finger Masques.

Now that I have seen and used the product I can totally understand them. These condition your nails, cuticles, and fingers for a super soft feeling. These finger masks make a lot of sense, especially to those who are tough on their nails or work with their hands. Instead of lotion and cuticle oil as two steps, this allows for an all-in-one pampering session for your nails.

The 7th Heaven Finger Masques look a little silly to wear, but the results are really nice. I definitely don’t pay enough attention to my cuticles so this was much-needed TLC on my tips.

All you have to do is stick each finger into one of these oval shaped paper tubes. The inside is coated with conditioning oils and ingredients like pomegranate. The paper tubes are totally dry so you can actually still function while wearing them. After 15 minutes you take off the papers and rinse of the leftover reside, and that’s it!

I definitely felt silly wearing these finger masks!

After using these finger masks my cuticles looked and felt better, my peeling nails were much smoother and also looked a lot nicer. My fingers did feel a bit wrinkly like they do after a bath, but that went away shortly and they were left feeling super soft. For something so simple in concept these little finger masks made a big difference to my nails and I was quite impressed.

These funky looking finger masks will be available at Rexall drugstores this month!

Will you be trying them out?

St. Patrick’s Day Leprechaun Nail Art

My freehand Leprechaun nail art for St. Patrick's Day!

My freehand Leprechaun nail art for St. Patrick’s Day!

Have you seen my St. Patrick’s Day rainbow pot of gold nail art yet? I did those a few days ago and then decided to follow up with another themed look today! This time I have St. Patrick’s Day Leprechaun nail art to show you, which I did freehand again.

I normally don’t go all out for St. Patty’s but I had the idea for these and I figured they were just too cute not to try!

For this look I used China Glaze 2030 as my gold, Zoya Veruschka for my green, and Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Pumpkin Queen for my orange. The white of the leprechaun’s eyes was done with Essie Coconut Cove and the black on his eyes and hat was done with Orly Liquid Vinyl, which has quickly become a staple polish for my nail art looks.

Mani Monday: Purple Paisley Nail Art

Today I have some simple nail art to show you. This was super easy to do and didn’t take very long at all but I think it looks pretty good. Check out my purple paisley nail art below!

Purple Paisley Nail Art

Purple Paisley Nail Art

To get this purple paisley nail art I used one base shade, one stamping plate, scraper, and stamp, and one polish to stamp with. Super easy and quick!

The base polish is Formula X in the shade A Little Sexy. This is a metallic lavender silvery blue that looks great on its own and only needed one coat for full opacity! How much do you love one coat nail polishes? It makes painting my nails so much easier and I love finding shades that are that opaque. I wish I had snapped a photo of this polish before I stamped over it since it is such a nice colour.

I always forget how much I love Formula X polishes since I only have a few, but using this one made me want to pull out my others soon.

The stamping plate I used to get this purple paisley nail art look is a Konad image plate, number m64. I also used the Konad double ended stamper (I used the large end) and the Konad metal scraper.

The polish I stamped with was Zoya Pinta. I love this nail polish shade on it’s own but had never tried it for stamping before this look. I wasn’t sure this would work to stamp since it isn’t super thick or opaque in one coat on my nails, but for stamping it seemed to work. I think it may have to do with the fact that this polish is pretty old. Whatever the reason it ended up working out perfectly to give me crisp lines in this purple paisley nail art look!

I was really pleased with the way this turned out and even though these were random choices to use for this look, they worked well together.

What do you think of this nail art? Leave a comment and let me know!

Quo by Orly Perfectly Painted 12 Piece Mini Nail Set

The Quo by Orly Perfectly Painted 12 Piece Mini Nail Lacquer Set

The Quo by Orly Perfectly Painted 12 Piece Mini Nail Lacquer Set

Today I have a holiday gift idea that is perfect for the nail polish lover in your life. Whether it’s your bestie, sister-in-law, or favourite co-worker, this is a great gift set you can find at Shopper’s Drug Mart that is sure to make them smile. The Quo by Orly Perfectly Painted 12 Piece Mini Nail Lacquer Set has a wide variety of colours and finishes, with some really neat nail polish shades at a great price.

This set comes in a little paint can container and has 12 mini polishes from the Quo by Orly line, which I have previously talked about here. The mini polishes in this set don’t need to special top coat and they come in all sorts of cool hues including glitters and a great duochrome. For $35 this set has a whole bunch of great colours that any girl would love.

What is in the Quo by Orly Perfectly Painted 12 Piece Mini Nail Lacquer Set?

I personally like how wide the colour variety is, with nudes, reds, blues, and more. I don’t like when polish sets are too specifically themed and limit my options so this is a refreshing choice that will work for any occasion. I love the pale pink nude and am super into the two glitters. I also love the grey duochrome that has amazing purple flashes depending on the light. Those three were the hardest to catch with my camera but I got an angle that really shows off the depth of these shades.

With the 12 colours in this Quo by Orly mini polish set this is a perfect gift idea for somebody who wants to try new hues and experiment. I love switching up my polish constantly and I never finish a full bottle, so these minis are the perfect size.

Another idea you could try is buying the set and breaking up the shades as stocking stuffers for all your BFFs. With 12 included you can give each girl a few shades that suit their style. At the $35 price tag it ends up being under $3 per polish so you can use the set as a whole or split it up depending on your gift needs this season.

Quick NOTD: Purple Swirl Nail Art

All my life I have always wanted beautiful long nails but it has taken me a lot of work to get them. I have to be very careful and once one breaks I end up going weeks with short nails. I recently broke one right on the side of the nail and decided that instead of cutting them all down I would be risky and try to reshape all my nails. I’ve always loved the look of almond nails so I took my time and attempted to file mine, and was really pleased with the result. I actually loved the shape on its own (even though it isn’t a perfect almond style) but I decided to spice it up with some purple swirl nail art.

This nail art was so simple to do but combined with my new almond nail shape I think it looks super fancy and I’m really pleased. The silver contrasts so well against the purple and I love the delicate swirl design.

What I used to get this look

The items I used for this purple swirl nail art look are the following items:

  • Zoya Savita for the purple base
  • Essie Loophole for the silver stamp colour
  • Konad Square Image Plate #14 for the design
  • Konad stamper and scraper
  • Base coat and top coat

Side note: Zoya Savita is actually a matte nail polish but once I finished the design I did a top coat so it went shiny. It is a beautiful colour both ways but with the stamping it needed some shine.

Another look at my purple swirl nail art

Another look at my purple swirl nail art

Overall this purple swirl nail art took only a few minutes to complete but looks really nice. I love the swirly design on the almond nails, and I love the almond nails on their own so I definitely plan to keep this shape for a while and experiment with more nail art.

ImPress Gel Manicure Press-On Nails Oval Edition

I have been a big fan of the ImPress Press-On Manicure sets for a long time, and recently I discovered that they make another kind of press-on set that is even better… oval shape! These ImPress Gel Manicure Oval Edition sets have the same easy application and stylish designs, but they come in a new nail shape. How cool is that?!

ImPress Gel Manicure Oval Edition Press-On Nails

Side note: I have no idea why they are called Gel Manicures now, since they are still the peel-off/press-on nails.

I have always wanted oval shaped nails but I cannot seem to grow my natural nails out that way. As chic as it looks on Kylie Jenner, I had given up all hope that I would ever have oval nails. When I found out about these ImPress Gel Manicure kits in the new oval style I was so excited.

I absolutely love how quick and simple these press-on nails are to apply, and I have it down to a five minute process. They are waterproof and last for a full week without falling off, and I usually get away with almost now tip wear. They come in a ton of patterns and designs, with different colours and accent nails in some kits.

You can see my full review on ImPress Press-On Nails here, where I wrote about the style Boogie Down, which is a bright coral glitter with a chevron accent nail, shown to the left.

I wrote a full post including instructions on how to do the simple application process. It seriously takes five minutes and it lasts for a full week!

I reserve my use of fake nails like these to only times when I really need them, so I am saving these amazing oval shaped Impress nails for the next time I have a big event or break a nail badly. I cannot wait to wear these stylish shaped nails and you can bet I’ll be posting all over my Instagram when I get a chance to wear them.

Quo by Orly Color Amp’d Nail Polish

Have you heard of Quo by Orly Color Amp’d nail polish? I recently learned about them and am really excited about this line of bold drugstore polishes.

I have about a dozen Orly nail polishes and I really love them all. The brand has such a great formula, interesting colours, and a rubberized cap that I really like to use. They aren’t super easy to get in Canada so I only have a few, but recently I was introduced to the new line of Quo by Orly Color Amp’d polishes, available at Shopper’s Drug Mart, which offer the same features that I loved about the original Orly brand. Great formula, interesting colour options, and a rubberized cap that makes it one of my favourite polish bottles!

The Quo by Orly Color Amp’d line is new to me but this brand has been around for quite some time. If you take a minute to Google the brand, it comes up with some really stunning shades including neons and unique colours that I haven’t seen elsewhere. I’m pretty impressed with the colour range and pigmentation of the ones I have seen and used so far.

Julep Maven August Box

Last month I skipped my Julep Maven box because I wasn’t super interested in the products, but this month I got back into it. I chose all of the items in my Julep Maven August box, and am really pleased with it. I chose two holographic polishes and another one of the Skip The Brush Stick in the shade Passionfruit.

My Julep Maven August Box

My Julep Maven August Box

The two holographic nail polishes I chose for my Julep Maven August box are Zori, a pale pink holographic shade, and Stephanie, a bright cherry red holographic glitter. I don’t have any holo polishes in these colours so I was really excited to get these. Zori is much more holographic than Stephanie, but in the right lights Stephanie can really shine too.

Look at the stunning holo shade Zori! It’s so pretty and has such a beautiful rainbow of colour going through it. Stephanie has more subtle holo flecks but they show up a little stronger in real life. Holo is super hard to capture on camera!

I specifically chose another Skip The Brush Creme to Powder Blush Stick because I really like the one I got in my June Julep Maven box, which you can check out here. I chose the shade Passionfruit because it would be a good blush hue for my tanned skin. Passionfruit is a warm deep berry shade with flecks of shimmer throughout it. In the swatch below it is just a plain swipe of product on the left and blended out on the right.

Overall I am quite pleased with my Julep Maven August box. 2 great holographic nail polish colours and a cream to powder blush stick will be perfect to help me finish off the summer.

L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Liya’s Nude Nail Polish

I have a beautiful mauve/grey nail polish to show you that is a total staple in my nail polish collection all year round. The L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Liya’s Nude nail polish is part of the nude collection from a few years ago that focused on nude shades of lipstick and nail polish to match some of the L’Oreal Spokesmodels. There were a variety of different tones to coincide with the different women’s skin tones. They were all great colours but Liya’s Nude nail polish is the one I reach for most often.

Liya Kebede is an actress, model, and designer that shares the spokesmodel role with other famous beauties such as Blake Lively, Eva Longoria, J.Lo, and many more.

Liya’s Nude nail polish is a medium toned mauve/grey that has the perfect balance between a dusty purple and greige hue. The formula is super smooth and applies like a dream. I love the brush that goes with this polish too, and it makes it so nice to work with. I can get great coverage and shine with just two coats.

L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche Liya's Nude nail polish

L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Liya’s Nude

I think that Liya’s Nude nail polish works for summer, winter, and everything in between. It definitely fits into the neutral category and isn’t anything too crazy, but it has something different and cool to it that adds a little edge. I really love the colour and the formula, and for an affordable drugstore nail polish this one is a really great option.

If Liya’s Nude nail polish isn’t the right shade for you there are also nude hues suited to other skin tones in honour of the other spokeswomen, so be sure to check them out! There is also a more recent collection with pink tones in both lipstick and nail polish for many of the spokeswomen.
