Julep Maven September Box: Part 2

Yesterday I showed you the pretty eyeliner shades I got in the Cheers to Five Years Mini Eyeliner set from Julep. I chose that as my Julep Maven September box, but I was so intrigued by the September offerings that I ordered a second box as well. The second box I picked was the Cheers to Five Years Mini Lipstick Trio, which I am showing you today.

For my second Julep Maven September box I got the lipstick trio as well as a clear lip liner, which is super handy to keep bold colours on your lips and avoid smudging or bleeding. This box was a pre-made one, which I normally don’t pick but it was a good combination so I went for it.

Julep Maven September Box: Part 1

This month I was super excited about the Julep Maven collection. The September sets were in celebration of Julep’s 5 year anniversary, which is a big milestone that they celebrated. In honour of the 5 year anniversary there were some really neat Julep sets to choose from for the Julep Maven September Box, and I had such a tough time choosing one that I ended up getting two!

Today I will show you the Cheers to Five Years Mini Eyeliner Set that I picked for my Julep Maven September box. This set is worth $40 (according to the website) and comes with five different shades of the When Pencil Met Gel Eyeliner. All five of the shades included are brand new, and they have some really cool colours for Fall. I was immediately drawn to the Ultraviolet and Lilac Shimmer.

Julep Maven August Box

Last month I skipped my Julep Maven box because I wasn’t super interested in the products, but this month I got back into it. I chose all of the items in my Julep Maven August box, and am really pleased with it. I chose two holographic polishes and another one of the Skip The Brush Stick in the shade Passionfruit.

The two holographic nail polishes I chose for my Julep Maven August box are Zori, a pale pink holographic shade, and Stephanie, a bright cherry red holographic glitter. I don’t have any holo polishes in these colours so I was really excited to get these. Zori is much more holographic than Stephanie, but in the right lights Stephanie can really shine too.

Look at the stunning holo shade Zori! It’s so pretty and has such a beautiful rainbow of colour going through it. Stephanie has more subtle holo flecks but they show up a little stronger in real life. Holo is super hard to capture on camera!

I specifically chose another Skip The Brush Creme to Powder Blush Stick because I really like the one I got in my June Julep Maven box, which you can check out here. I chose the shade Passionfruit because it would be a good blush hue for my tanned skin. Passionfruit is a warm deep berry shade with flecks of shimmer throughout it. In the swatch below it is just a plain swipe of product on the left and blended out on the right.

Overall I am quite pleased with my Julep Maven August box. 2 great holographic nail polish colours and a cream to powder blush stick will be perfect to help me finish off the summer.

Julep Phoebe is the perfect mermaid nail polish shade

Julep Phoebe is the perfect mermaid nail polish shade. This is pretty much a fact and once you see the polish you will totally agree.

I have been wearing this nail polish for almost a full week which is something I never do. I always get bored of a colour too quickly and change my nail polish very frequently. It is a shock if I can last more than three days with the same shade on my nails, so to be hitting seven days with Julep Phoebe is a big deal. I just got some great polishes in my June Julep Maven box, but I still reach for Phoebe for a fun summer mermaid shade.

Julep Phoebe is a gorgeous metallic green that leans a little to the teal side. It is super bright and bold and it a colour that you will keep looking at. In every light I kept checking out my nails and even after multiple days of wear it was just as stunning as the first day. I got a ton of comments and compliments on my nails while I was wearing Julep Phoebe.

Julep Maven June 2016 box review

Another new month, another Julep Maven box! June has just begun and I have been really loving the hot weather we have gotten lately. I have also been loving my Julep Maven boxes since I started getting them back in April, and today I have the Julep Maven June 2016 box to show you. In this one I got two nail polishes and a Skip The Brush cream to powder blush stick.

I personally prefer to choose what items I get in my Julep boxes, as opposed to picking one of the pre-made Julep Maven June 2016 box selections. The selections are nice and I would be happy to get them, but I always like picking each item out myself. Sometimes I am feeling more nail polish and sometimes I like the beauty products. This month I was really interested in the Skip The Brush cream to powder blush, but I wasn’t sure the shades in the pre-selected box would suit me, so I made sure to pick that out in a shade that would work with my skin tone. I also chose two pretty polishes that were different than what I have been wearing recently.

Julep Pepper Zebra Print Nail Art

I recently got my May Julep Maven box and I really loved all of the polishes I got in it, especially this gorgeous cornflower blue with silver shimmer called Pepper. You can see photos of all 6 polishes I got in the box in my post, but today I am focusing on Pepper alone. I did some really fun stamping to get this Julep Pepper zebra print nail art look and I am really happy with it.

Pepper has quickly become one of my all-time favourite nail polish shades. It has an incredible multidimensional silver shimmer to it that looks like flecks of metal. The flecks are super tiny so they blend in seamlessly and create a really unique look. The colour is a gorgeous blue/indigo/purple hue that catches the light in a bunch of different ways. It was super hard to photograph this right because it really does look different in all lighting. Sometimes it leans more blue or purple, and other times it has an almost holographic quality to it. I enjoyed wearing Pepper alone for a a few days before I did my Julep Pepper zebra print nail art.

Julep Maven May 2016 nail polish subscription box review

Guess what time it is again? Time to take a look at what I got in my Julep Maven May 2016 box! This month I got three polishes in the box and added on another trio for $12. I couldn’t resist the pretty shades and I was having a hard time choosing ones for my box so I splurged and got the extras. They were at a great price since usually one polish is $11-$14 so getting a trio was a total deal!

The Julep Maven May 2016 box was all about the Rainbow Bright collection which focused on shimmery iridescent polishes. You can see them all here. Out of the whole set I got three of them: Regina, Francine, and my favourite one – Pepper.

Julep Brighter is Better Oxygen Brightening Nail Treatment: See the Difference!

Recently I have been really into Julep nail polishes, including the Vivid Sheer ones that I reviewed here. With all the nail polish I have been playing with my nails are definitely not at their brightest and best. Luckily I got a full size bottles of the Julep Brighter is Better Oxygen Brightening Nail Treatment in a recent Julep Maven box. This is a nail treatment that encourages nail growth, brightens yellow nails, and is intended to improve nail health.

In the bottle you can see that the Julep Brighter is Better Oxygen Brightening Nail Treatment has a blue/purple hint to it. It doesn’t show up too strongly on the nails but there is definitely a little bit of a tint. It becomes more or less visible depending on the light but it isn’t noticeable enough to bother me. The formula is a little thinner than nail polish and more watery, so be sure to wipe the brush before applying. It also has a slight lemon scent to it which I didn’t mind.

Julep Maven April 2016 Nail Polish Subscription Box Review

Today I have the Julep Maven April 2016 box to show you. This month I got the ‘It Girl’ box, which contained all nail polish and no cosmetics. I chose this one on purpose because I was really excited about the new Vivid Sheer nail polishes.

The new Julep Vivid Sheer line of polishes are translucent shades that look almost like a jelly. They remind me of popsicles and they come in bright bold hues. In the Julep Maven April 2016 box I got three of the Vivid Sheer nail polishes and a plain white polish. The white polish was Brigitte, and it was intended to go under the sheer colours to give them more of a pop.

The three Vivid Sheer nail polishes included in this box were Shanna, Ari, and Delaney.

  • Shanna is a perfect bold grape hue that just screams summer to me.
  • Ari is a hot pink fuchsia shade that looks super juicy.
  • Delaney is a super bright ocean blue that looks like something you would see in the Caribbean.

They all look a lot darker in the bottle, especially Shanna and Delaney, so I was surprised when I first swatched them and saw how bright they are.

On their own these polishes are definitely sheer and give just a light soft touch of colour. With the white underneath they really pop out and become so bright and bold. I already have some great nail art ideas for some white space manicures that these would look great with.

I am really happy with the Julep Maven April 2016 box and look forward to seeing what I get next month!

You can see the difference between the plain Vivid Sheers and the ones with Brigitte underneath. My preference is definitely with the white base but all three polishes are really nice on their own. Have you tried any of the new Julep Vivid Sheer nail polishes? Let me know what your favourite shade is!
